thread on my show ponies and riding horse, none on my M&M's!

With thread you can do so much to make a neck look better. A weedy neck can be made to look like its got more topline, a short neck can be made to look longer and a long neck made to look shorter. you can also do cobra plaits to make the neck look huge!

Always sew. I once tried bands as I got a free bag with a magazine, but couldn't get on with them. They were fiddly & kept breaking & I couldn't work out how they'd be strong enough to hold a rolled up plait together.

Sewing is v fast if you thread up a load of needles the day before & line them up along an old sock.

(Altho I did manage to get the eye end of a needle embedded in my hand a few weeks ago down to the bone as Adrian & I were arguing over whether he was going to have his forelock plaited...)

catambi, i have a strip of canvas that i stick over one shoulder like a sash, stick your needles in it so that if you have a fight with a horse you can stick the needle back in quickly and the needles are always close to hand.

Bands usually, sometimes thread for a trot up but for eventing bands!! My banded plaits have seen badminton and burghley trot ups and never looked out of place and have won Blair and Dartfields s turnout prize lol!!!

Do sew them for showing though!
