I have noticed-up in scotland anyway-that it was extremly cold today! And it just got me thinking about the winter ahead. So how do you plan on preparing for this coming winter, any advice welcome just wanting to see how you all cope really! And btw i think it may just be an even earlier winter this year

Ssssssh! Don't say that summers over already
Not looking forwards to winter :(
I did notice that horsey's been looking a bit hairier recently so winter rugs have been sent for washing/reproofing ready for the nasty snow. Hope it isn't as bad as last year:rolleyes:

Ohh it certinly felt like it today! Yea same was starting to think about getting the clippers out but then had to tell myself its to early yet but im not so sure now. Hmm agreed but i think it could be worse or just as bad, if it is better however i will be so happy lol

I've started buying in a bag of shavings each week to get a head start! Historically, I'm a straw girl but new chap has always been rubber matting and shavings so will give it a try (got the matting). If it's too expensive I can always revert!

must be something in the air, this has been on my mind all week! For me, it's been sorting out my hay barn for winter, checking through my rugs to see what I need to repair / reproof, planning what feed to get in and generally thinking about the mud and darkness to come :(

It's been 40C here today, I'm having trouble thinking about tomorrow let alone winter.

I buy half a dozen pairs of black gloves, 3 woolly hats, patch up my padded coveralls and empty the spiders out of my boots;)

Horsewise...nothing much to be done, we'll check the water pipes and heated troughs sometime, I have hay at home and in storage elsewhere, I know where my rugs are (behind the hay somewhere) and we have a pallet of salt somewhere too (probably underneath the rugs behind the hay;)) Snow ploughs are in the drive shed ready (behind more hay I think) that's about it really.

Winter is no different really except that I go in the house to warm up, not cool down:)
