True, but then I’ve heard many people call crisps ‘crips’ .

My brain reached for "flied" because it sees the L and the Y the wrong way round. But I can usually correct myself to "filed".

Wikipedia tells me it's "/ˈfaɪld/", but if I hadn't looked it up, I wouldn't have known it was in Lancashire and would have pronounced it "/ˈfyldə/"...

Drives me bonkers too, lots of people phoning me have them ontheir horses. Once you know it's a town then you know there is only one pronunciation. "Flyde" I hope is genuine dyslexia lol.
