How do you 'pull' a horse's tail using this? (cheaper tail rake alternative)

You won't pull it.

It is a thinning tool so you razor the tail rather than pull.

don't worry i'm aware its a lazy alternative:D was just wondering if the effect is similar to that achieved by a tail rake? And if its just a razor action whats the difference to using scissors?(lazy alert:eek:)

Sorry, no offence meant at all.

I use a rake on the cart horse who has a tail beyond description. After using the rake I then use a thinning knife to reduce the volume lower down the dock and deep inside the body of the tail. It's a bit difficult to explain without seeing the common creature's massive tail !

does tail raking/razoring make it more inclined to 'bog brush' as it grows out than proper pulling?

Oh yes !! and the post above is totally correct.

If the common creature ever decides to go nicely and grace the arena as a maxi cob I will pay someone to pull her tail. I think it really is an art to be able to pull manes and tails well.
