I did a post about pets and it got me thinking how many of ours have passed away over the last few months.
I have done a remembrance garden for them planting trees and plants that are significant to them in some way i.e. a Pippin apple tree for our now passed on Pippin, Red beauty plant for two horses we tried and failed to save called Red and Beauty.
We also have fond memories and remember me. It is a nice quiet place in one of our gardens and when set up nicely i would like to invite peole round to remember their passed on loved ones.
Does anyone else do anything?

when ever we have losts a pet, we would bury them, and then put a plant or tree in the area.
You can imagine what our garden looks like after loosing several cats, a few dogs, 3 hamsters, 4 rabbits, several canaries (yes, my dad buries these!!)...
Don't think my dad would be up to burying a horse though!!!

When we lost our old dog, we got a big posh photo album and searched out every photo of him we had (with 16 years worth that was quite a few!). We put them into chronological order in the album, along with his pedigree and id tag.

I didn't used to be able to look at it, but I can now and it's nice to flick through. Although I'm currently hoping mum won't, as several photos are missing - they are with an artist who is going to produce a sketch of Barney for her birthday:)

I still have Woodys headcollar hanging in the stable and the fence that he knocked down when we was PTS never got put back up. And still 4 years on I find grey hair on numnahs etc :D

As for smaller pets we have a part of the hedge in the garden that grows very well, (4 guinea pigs and two fish).

We had a little piece of wood that my sister engraves and we put them in the garden where one of the cats was buried, but with out small garden they couldn't all go in the garden.

This thread has brought me to tears this evening as my wonderful cat Solomon passed away at the vets whilst being scanned last night :-( I'm so sad :-(

Last year, my rescue cat Hamish had to be PTS because of incurable cancer. I love all my animals, and those whom I have shared life with in the past. Hamish was very special to me though. He only trusted me. We had a great bond and he was a special friend. I was literally gutted. I can't tell you how it affected me.

I don't want to forget anything about Hamish. Shortly after he passed away I took a pad of paper and wrote down everything I could remember about him - His behaviour, his ways, his likes and dislikes.....All the memories. I put these and his collar with tag on into his cremation box.

I have his ashes and I have lots of framed photos. On the spot where he used to love sitting in the garden I have a pot of petunias this summer.

I always try to think of how he felt - His paws and cheeks etc.

My mare's ashes are in a basket in the living room, I also have part of her tail in there and the last polo I gave her before she was pts, she wouldn't eat it so I kept it. My 2 dogs' ashes are scattered by a stream in the park in my home town. They used to spend hours playing in the water there so I thought it was a nice place to put them :)

My great Dane and my husbands boxer have been bookends on my mantle piece for years. (cremated in boxes you understand) I have just packed them away carefully as we are moving soon. In the new house I will make space for them as I can never see us leaving there. I am also taking a square of the concrete from here as Kerri trod in it when we put it down leaving a huge footprint. I'll use this to mark the spot! I also have plaits from the tails of horses past to place under it.
