Now that the clocks have changed, the days are shorter and it's definitely getting colder and wetter. Here at Horse, we admit to finding it a bit of a struggle to drum up the enthusiam to go and ride in the evenings after a hard day in the office.

So, we want to know, what keeps you motivated to keep training your horse over the winter? Is it the full diary of competitions you have planned that you need to keep your horse fit for, or does the thought of the amount of hard-earned cash you're spending on your equestrian pursuits provide you with the get up and go?

What's your secret weapon for keeping going on those cold, dark days? Please email your thoughts to jennifer_hughes@ipcmedia.com.

Not sure its motivation, but I find its much easier to get out for a ride in the morning when you have a nice dry horse in the stable. I struggle with motivation to collect a wet, muddy horse in from the field!

Thanks you've just given me motivation:D I forget how lucky I am sometimes

It's just what I do! Get home, get changed & get straight back out there before I have too much of a chance to ponder how cold it's going to be.

Keeping up with lessons & competing helps.

Do as much as possible in the morning, and get a good routine.
I try to ride 2 before work each day, and as the fields are so wet mine only go out in the sand arena while I muck out, but it is much easier to just have to skip out and do water hay and feed at night. I also think it gives more relaxation time, being dragged out in the cold dark night is no fun for anyone, better to stay snug and warm at night.
