bringing you 'presents'. today he brought me a mouse but when he put it on the floor in the house for me it wasnt dead, and its now hiding somewhere under my stairs. any suggestions on how to stop this please?
Lol.........when u allow him indoors, make sure his gob is empty first and dont leave the door open for him to come in as he pleases
my cats used to be murder for this.
If he has summit in his gob when you go to let him in, see if you can swap him for something else.....only maybe let him drop it, instead of you placing your hand out for a dead or live animal
LMAO!!
I sympathise, Flora is a gifter too! Right pain in the backside. She gives me inannimate objects frequently which is less annoying than furry finds from the garden! She has the pick up and drop commands now so its easier to get her to pick it back up and take it out herself rather than me having to touch it!! Definately check his mouth when he comes in as Cayla says, I forget to do this alot!
Anyway a mouse is nothing, when Flora was about six months old she managed to saunter past the OH in the kitchen undetected, into the bathroom where I was having a bath and 'gift' me a live pheasant poult straight into the water with me!
edited because I changed your dogs gender...sorry!
My two have spent the winter hunting cute little field mice, since they hit upon the winning formula of standing either side of the object the poor mouse is hiding under, then one makes an almighty din, that only cattle dogs can really master and the other collects the prize and runs like hell whilst eating the prize. No chance of them ever giving it to me, but they do take turns at collecting!!!
