How do you stop tail chewing?

My yearling has absolutely diminished my loan cobs tail!
He had been pulling at her rug and the tail flap has now seen better days! But she has hardly any tail left..any tips how to stop the delinquant...poor girly, i dont think it will grow quick enough to be of benefit when the flies come out...

put something nasty like hoof oil on the tail.
lots of babies do that and the quicker the habit is stopped the better really

If you don't com,pete your horse stick some cribox in her tail, although don't put it on the roots as it can make some sensitive horses' hair fall out. It comes in plastic tubs these days which you can put in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it. Otherwise something foul tasting, don't want to recommend anything as haven't used anything else!
