How do you survive box rest?

Sorry if this has been done before!

But, my mare is now on box rest for a month and she hates it! she will just stand at her door wanting to go out and wont touch her hay.

How do you make box rest bearable?!

My poor lad has been a bit under the weather recently so he's being kept in atm just so we can keep an eye on him. He looks soooo bored so I've been taking in carrots, breaking them up and hiding in his bed (in places where he doesn't poo or wee), in his haynet and a big turnip on the ground made for a bit of fun rolling it around trying to get a good enough grip to bite it
There's threads on here about home made boredom busters that are filled with brilliant ideas to keep the hairy ones amused, going to have to go find it for myself again (if I do I'll come back and post the link for you) so I can use some of them too.
