Or is it just mine thats hypa active?

For example today, up for work at 6.15 am quick 20 minute walk round the block on lead. I leave the house at 7for work leaving them and was back for 12. Took to stables pottered around there while i was mucking out daughters pony, had to clip a vet sedated horse so was on the car for about 45 minutes. Then took to Windsor Great park for a gallop:D They were chasing the ball and generally playing along with some reacall practice sitting ect. Ive another dog too so they were running together.

Had to pop back to work for half hour so they waited in the car as its cool enough not. Then went to finish up daughters pony so they were on the lead coming to muck heap ect. I then took them round the horse fields for 45 minutes again off the lead.

Im now home and there fed and its like hes been locked up all day running and leaping and playing, a minute ago he was barking at the wasking machine galloping up the hall way and back to the washing!! :D And although very amusing and i dont mind, it feels like i havnt done enough if hes still be this energetic?? The other one a 4 year old Jr is conked out in bed and it will be that way till bedtime where he'll have a wee and back to bed.

Hes a JR about 5 1/2 months old. Is this normal.

I really dont mind its quite funny in someways and is amusung to watch just hope hes doing enough??:)

Brain/thinking exercise, bones/Kongs and playing/yomping with other dogs.
For young pups, especially older breeds, over exercising them in youth, especially on hard surfaces, can lead to joint problems down the road, just cause they can run all day, doesn't mean it is good for them!
For me, short sessions of sit/stand/down and mixing that up a bit, heeling, object discrimination, making them *think* tires them out more/better than running around.

My ten month old is being exceptionally annoying as he didn't get a good trip out yesterday and I have been doing short training sessions with him and keep shoving a bone in his mouth :p

montyforver I though so!!:D

Cavecanem yer do lots of sit stay down stay recall all that sort of stuff on the day time walk. Hes very good at it now!!:) Hes actually got a better recall than the older one. And theres lots of stuff to occupy him around kongs, balls toys ect. We meet lots of dogs out and my other dog and him love to rough play all the time but at this time in the evening the older one is sleeping. I also walk with my friends 2 dogs regulary a border terrier and a another JR.

I did worry i was over doing the walking as have had dobes when i was younger and obs had to be carefull but had a chat with the vet who sedated the ladies horse i was clipping and she did say that i shouldnt worry to much with amout a JR does to the larger breeds??

Im not fussed it is amusing although sometime i have to say enough is enough and he sits watching me hoping ill play little monkey.:)

Get two pups LOL.
Mine chase around the whole time, and then fall deeply asleep, until they wake up and off we go again.
They are only 3 months old, so very very minimum walking - 10 mins up the track, if that.
Ours do a lot of pouncing on each other - so sweet :)

that is far too much structured walking to be honest, i'd cut out that morning 20min on lead ormake it more like 10min imo.

Oh god just got this one house trained and aswell as the puppy ive got another 4 year old JR and they do play fight ALOT!!! Dont think i could cope with another pup or my bank balance!!!:D

To be fare on his walking, this was a busy day they wouldnt usually get 3 usually its the morning walk and an hour at lunch not the extra evening one. It was just an exampe to how much he'd done and he was still hypa!! Little monkey!!!

Anyway this is him today, im actually stood in a little stream trying to pursuade him its fun to come in!!!!:D

I think its just a JRT thing - mine was very simlar, she's not much different now to be honest and shes 19 months old now - although having a lurcher too seems to have helped tire her out a bit - the only thing that really zonks her out is when we're out agility training, definitely does the trick!

My vet said very similar things about amount of work etc. with a JRT is quite different to that of a large dog - Millie didnt grow much more after she was 6 months...

I find training and mental stimulation tires my Border Collies alot faster than any walk/run/play session does.

Totally agree with people suggesting extra mental stimulation - I have a 13 week old JR x pup who would try and keep up with the other dogs and horses until the cows came home... but would still be after attention! She gets loads of fairly short play sessions and one proper (10/15 minute) lead walk a day - mainly to introduce her to different things. I was away all day working on Monday and my OH was concerned that she hadnt had enough opportunity to stretch her legs enough during the day so took her out in the field with an older terrier to play ball and 'wear her out'. He then reported to me that the older dog got tired first and the rest of the evening was spent with the pup barking and yapping and trying to get someone to play!! :D

On a 'normal' day she will actually get slightly less exercise but will get several bouts of 'training' and learning, as well as a stuffed kong or a bone or two - if she is awake and isnt playing she likes to be chewing!! She also loves watching the television - and I can work while she watches!!! ;)
