How do you work out acreage?

I gave notice on the fields i rent after being fed up of being bullied by the new landlord.
I am in talks with another land owner who has offered the same acreage for the same price.
How do i work out the areage?
I have measured the fields with a wheel. For instance one field is 0110.3, 0086.5, 0111.4, 0086.7. These measurements were taken down each side of the field.
Any help apreciated.

If your measurements are in metres, the best way is to work out the square metres from your measurements ( assuming fields are rectangular)
10,000 square meters = 1 Hectare
2.471 acre = 1 Hectare
 
so, for example
110 x 86 = 9460 sq m
0.946 hectare - oops typing error

986 Hectare(s) = 2.4364590627 Acre(s)
 
Are these measurements in metres? If so, length (110m) times width (86m) will give you 9460sq.m which is 0.946 hectares. To convert this into acres you multiply by 2.471 which gives you 2.334 acres (I have my metric conversion calculator to hand!). Clear as mud?

Its not just the acreage that matters though -
Grazing quality, flooding, weeds, fencing, water supply , security and access to compare too.
 
If you go onto Windows Live Local on the internet and find the place they have a nifty tool that lets you work out the area.

The other great website is www.magic.gov.uk/ which via their interactive map prob does the same as what JingleGirl's site does! Really easy and can zoom in really close to get very accurate reading for the field as no field is perfectly square! But as previously said, you need to walk the field to look at quality as well as size.

That would be 3.7914 hectares (10,000 sq.m in a hectare).
