how does everyone do xmas day and their horses

Work horses will be all In and just hay/fed/watered at both ends of day.

Mine will be left in, hays, feed and waters plus full muck out am and pm. They will be out Xmas eve and boxing day.

I might see if I can buddy up with another livery so will only have to go the once. I am nearish to the yard but I wanted to drink :o. Will go to the yard around 7ish and put out, do jobs. Then if a livery brings in that will be it. If not I will go up around 3-4 ish and bring in, kiss and cuddle and leave. Will only take a short while. May hack in the morning, depends on weather.

Me and a livery do eachothers every day. I turn out and she brings in. Although not sure what her plans for, so don't want to just assume she will bring in xmas day. Will have to ask her.

All of ours are going out on Xmas Eve for a couple of days. I will go up at lunchtime on Xmas day as Mini TX will be out with boyfriend and OH going to his mums for an hour to check them all over. Other liveries will check later on as well.

Normal day for me. We are all in 24/7 at the moment so down the yard at 7.00am, muck out, hay etc.. quick check at around 1.00pm, then lunch.. back down to the yard at 5.00pm ish to sort for the night.

The different thing for me on Xmas, now that I have a horse, I don't have the long boozy days that most of my friends have and I had in the past. So a much healthier xmas for me :D

I have my cob and 4 liveries, all out 24/7 but with stable yard 20 feet from the back door. So very spoilt and very easy for me. I don't expect my liveries to come on Christmas Day unless they want to - in fact one will be in Thailand.

We go to midnight service on Christmas Eve, and I'll feed, change rugs and give haynets at 9 a.m. on Christmas Day (with a bottle of Guinness in each one's feed - though the tiny Shelties may share one). We have Christmas lunch about 1.15 (some non-horsy family and friends) so it'll be nice to slip away at 4pm and do the evening feed and nets etc, with more treats. And then a final visit at midnight, as usual, for last haynets.

The most special part of every Christmas for me is 3pm on Christmas Eve. I forget about turkey and lost presents and have we got enough booze - I go out to the stable and listen to the Nine Lessons and Carols from King's College, Cambridge while I do the haynets etc. The horses usually join me in the yard. I've done this ever since I was a little girl with my father and his hunters. It puts everything into perspective.

Happy Christmas however you are spending it with your horses!

There is talk of a few of us hacking out on Xmas morning but to be honest the OH is moaning already as we usually have a special xmas breakfast with some bucks fizz so really dont think i will have the time! So think it will be down early, feed, skip out, turn out, hay, water and then home for 'breakfast'!

Then off to family for lunch and hopefully back late afternoon, if not will pay YO to bring her in and feed so i can have a jo;;y good drink ... which i will need spending a few hours with my family!
