Charlie has just has 4 weeks off and prior to that had been in light work. He is now back on work and I will gradually start building up his work load.

How do you think he looks condition wise?
(ignore his mane, I am in the process of sorting it out

This was him in November (I struggled with his weight over winter)

He is now out 24/7 and gets one feed a day.

Any ideas on how to improve his topline?

Do you think he is blooming a bit to much? Time to cut his feed back?

The Dizzy one will look like that soon enough, she's doing great in such a short space of time. Is she still in work?

Yes, but didn't want to burst your bubble.

I'd stop feeding all together if he were mine

I agree, he looks great now but on the verge of a little too well lol. Am sure you will manage this, esp if his work is about to increase and you restrict / cut out his hard feed and just offer a light balancer or something to ensure he's getting all the vit/mins. Good luck with the summer ahead.

No, stopped working her after her hissy fit. Her teeth are too bad to put a bit in there

. I did think of lunging, but don't want the noseband on tight as that'll be affecting her mouth as well. So, she is chilling in the field and turning into a slob
cool.gif
. Hopefully, if vet and dentist both come tomorrow morning...., she'll start work again on Monday: lunging (Pessoa) three times a week, and ridden twice a week for four to six weeks depending on how she goes.

I would say it was just lack of muscle now to be honest which will obviously come on with work. I would also say that in the november picture, If the overall muscle was built up then the weight on the belly wouldnt look so bad. I hope that makes sense.

isnt it annoying you spend tons of money all winter trying to keep weight on and struggle then summer comes with a little bit of grass and they look better than ever!

Lol, don't worry, I was thinking the same thing which is why I asked. I think I will just use up the feed that he has left as it won't keep till winter. I'll probably introduce some happy hoof or something as all the other ponies get fed so it will keep him out of there grub!

TT - Thanks, I will just use up the food he has left and then look at changing it to something along the lines of Happy hoof, just to keep him happy when the others are fed.

MrsM - I don't remember reading about her Hissy fit (might of been when I was on Holiday) What happened?

CC - Yep he does need Muscle, hopefully if I can get him working properly that will come with time even though it is something we have always struggled with.

KK - Yes, Very Annoying!!
