I read somewhere that only the 3 best scoring riders from each team will jump tomorrow...then the top 25 will jump again for the individual.

However, there are 32 team members to jump off for team medals, but some of the "discarded" individuals have lowers scores than some of the other teams "included" riders. Does this mean that they wont get to ride in the first team stage and will only jump off in the 2nd phase?

Or do all competitors jump for thier teams in the first round ?

as i understand it, all that pass the trot-up jump the first round which is how the team places are decided, then the top 25 jump for individual medals.

However, only 3 from a nation can jump off. So as it stands Daisy would not jump off even though she is 24th as William, Mary and Tina are better placed. I think I'm right in saying that. Worse for the Germans and Aussies.

i believe you are correct about the limit of three national riders in the last 25.

and usually Rambo, they dont but the other disciplines at the games jumped up and down after sydney because eventing was the only sport that didnt have separate contests for team and indiviudual medals. this was when there was a big effort to get rid of eventing and the objectors were hoping it would be bannished because the cost of running the 3DE twice, with two seperate lots of horses would have been prohibited.
sadly for them some bright spark came up with the two showjump rounds (bless them) to decide the individual medals.

That's rubbish then !

What's the point in having an extra round of SJ'ing to decide the individual placings when they've only had one shot at dressage and x-c

Can't see the need to split the competition up at all tbh...just leave it in the same format that is used for WEG and Europeans

i dont disagree at all but sadly that was the best way to get round the problem, because the other sports (not the equine ones) all have to do two contests if there are team and individual medals.
they dont jump off against teh clock or anything just do one more round the penalties for which are added to their earlier scores. not quite sure how it would work if an individual was in the top 25 though. i suppose they would have to jump in the team round as well?
