And how well does your dog travel?

Beastie sits or lies down on the backseat and is very content there. Although I am gonig to invest in one of those harness/seatbelt type things for her as I couldn't forgive myself it there was an accident and she wasn't strapped in.

Tina goes into the boot and just lies down. When she knows she's getting near her destination she always sits up!

I suppose I should get a warning sticker that there is a dog on board as what if someone trasvelled too close to the back of my car and I had to break suddenly? Does anyone know where I can get one?

As long as she is on a lap Bumble Dog is happy!!!!!!!

Best to have a harness as even a small dog if you had a rear bump accident could kill the driver/passenger. My brother in law is a mechanical engineer of a pretty high calibre and he checked out the viability of a dog harness. Be very sure you get a weight specific one and even then it's no guarantee in a serious crash but could definitely help in a shunt.
Turns out for our dog even with a harness at 30 mph if we had an accident we would have been killed as the harness would have broken according to his calculations. He designed one which bolted to the chassis. In a crash he said the dog would inevitable die but we wouldn't. Sobering thought. Before you panic though our dog was 84KG!!!!!!

I decided in the hatchback that it wasn't safe to travel with the dogs running loose when I take my lot out (have 5 now!!) and it made a lot of mess when they'd been down the farm with me.

So I upgraded to an estate car and all of mine now travel in a large cage in the boot. Voila! Clean(er) car and safe dogs ;D I now need a van because the car isn't big enough but they'll be caged in that too.

Mine either go in a cage on the back seat or boot (I have a Pajero) or loose in the boot for short journeys - I have a dog guard. I couldn't travel with them loose as they want to get on my lap or stand on the electric window buttons and I am worried that they will jump out!

Both cars have factory fitted dog guards and both dogs travel behind those. The cocker would be in heaven if she was allowed to travel next to her Mummy in the front but its just not safe. Collie loves sitting up watching where she is going and cocker tends to curl up and sleep.

sits in the passenger footwell and doesnt move until told she can sit on the seat - if she is lucky! in the rav she travels in the boot with the seats down just to give her more space.

If in dads car or the 4x4 then they go in the boot with a dog guard otherwise scruff would bounce around the car or be in a cage.
When in my car they sit on the back seat of the car.

Ours travel very well, they know when they are going on a long journey and will lie down, but if you slow down scruff jumps up to look at where he is.

My two go in the boot........Suze is too big and doesn't bend well enough to go on seats etc, and my mums 4x4 has air con in the back for them which they love!!

Bart however jumps around unless you have the dog guard in!! If i just take Bart he goes on the front seat and will stay still once told a few times!!
Suze couldn't wear a seatbelt thing, she can't sit (only stands or lies) and i think she would have a fit!

They tend to travel standing up but if they are tired they will lie down!

In my 4x4 they travel in the boot....with back window down for some cool breeze

I dont have a dog guard or seat belts as they are very good....like little statues.

In the van I have crates....so everyone is crated
