How does your horse go for other people?

Ok so tonight YM sat on Pidge for me to see how his saddle was over a fence.
When she was warming him up he went really nicely for her and dropped lovely in the trot and it was so nice to see him in action like this as don't normally get to see him as it's always me riding!
So how does your horse go when others ride, do they behave or misbehave or something else

My horse is a one person girl (chestnut mare) - if I take someone hacking she is good as gold but put her in a school and she hates anyone else riding her (she particularly doesn't like men!)
 
are you sure there wasn't a few strides of gallop and then also some small bucks with a blonde squealing on top

PMSL, I seem to remember two blondes in fits of laughter and when they stopped because their ribs were hurting, they then applied effective help...................

generally pretty well, she needs tactful riding but fir just hacking/mooching about in the school shes pretty much anyones ride

now to do an elementry test on .. thats a different matter!
 
I like getting other people to ride Axel as he gets ridden by the judge at shows anyway and I feel he has to get used to it.
Halfpass rides him a lot and he goes nicely for her. The strange thing about it is that when I ride him he's better on the right rein, and when she rides him he's better on the left rein! In theory if we both ride him the same amount I'll have an even sided horse lol!!
 
Depends on the rider, if they are good then he will go better than for me! If they arent that confident though he will take the pee. But for kids he will be a little angel and not put a foot wrong!
 
Chex is a little horror - he turns into a complete plod, refuses tiny jumps and just takes the P! He does it really bad with my mum, you can just see in it his eyes as soon as she gets on, its like he smirks to himself lol
 
She was very excited and thought it was ace that someone stood in their stirrups!

She had run out of puff by the time we shouted sit!

I love watching my instructor ride Milly! It just proves she can move wonderfully well.

Shame she has to put up with a muppet like me on her back most of the time!

As a general rule; awful.

Lacey tests people soo badly.
Let me see..
1 person couldn't make her stand still in walk, she just ignored them
1 couldn't canter
1 got bucked off
1 was too scared to canter
1 had her ears up her nose and she was completly hollow and wouldn't bend
She was fairly good for my instructor at camp - I couldn't do a thing with her so my instructor hada go and got her working quite soft and since then she's been able to help us a lot more (and by the end of the week we were a changed combo apparantly!)
Aaand she was good for 1 other person but we were just cantering around really, we didn't do any proper work, plus that ride was all about going fast which is what Lacey agrees with :P

Not that I'm amazing, when I tried her out she point blank refused to canter - and considering her old owner had already told 2 other people to get off her I wonder what on earth she did to them?!
 
My old mare went like a grand prix dressage horse for my instructor but went more like a steeple chaser for me

My cob however is an absolute star for me but goes like a donkey for novices or nervous people (which i suppose isn't a bad thing lol)
 
my girl goes according to how the rider asks really, she knows how to do most things bless her, its just a case of if you ask her or not.
she is a little bit of a school mistress,not totally but enough to know what type or rider she has and how far she can push her natural idleness with that rider, she is not naughty just lazy when your soft with her, but i have seen my mate ride her really nicely! and i'm like, hang on....
 
Lady has always gone best/better for me, no matter how experienced someone else might be. She is much more tense with other people and tends to buck more, however the 13 year old who has taken her out on slowish hacks a few times has really gelled with her (but has her own pony on loan:().
Fudge will look after a novice when hacking, but really tests out and on more than one occasion has managed to get some very experienced riders off

He prefers quiet riders like my RI (who he goes very well for) and myself rather than the more aggressive type. Both love my friends four year old

Maiden will do anything for anyone. Which gets a bit depressing when I spend weeks and weeks persuading her to do left canter, finall crack it... and as she's then discovered she really can do it she'll do it for anyone else too. Might be nice if she threw in a few wrong leads for other people, but no... make me look bad why don't you, horse?!

good thing is I can persuade anyone to have a go on her as she's so easy.
Cracks on the other hand can be a bit difficult, she's fine to hack although spooky and bouncy, but in the school she's difficult to ride properly (she'll happily back off, tuck herself up in front, and trail the back end but look very "pretty"). However I've only ever seen myself, her owner and our YO/ instructor on her, and she goes fairly well for all of us.
Actually, all my horses have been fairly consistent with different riders, come to think of it.
 
Very kindly as long as they don't really ask anything of him! If they try to lay the law down or ride sloppily then he goes very badly indeed & the rider either gets off voluntarily or is "helped".

He has a bad habit of not taking other riders seriously & firmly believes that he's in charge (he's nearly always right

). I can only think of a couple of exceptions - both very good riders - & even they say they'd be wary of pushing too far & annoying him. The irony is that he's no where near as tough as people think, you just need to know how to play him & be very determined.
 
Only other person who rides me mare is my instructor, although she gets her working nicer than I do my horse is very stroppy and bad tempered with her.

I don't usually lt others ride my horse, even my trainer wont't at the mo as she doesn't want to interfere in the relationship we're establishing. One or two others have sat on him and have really upset him and it has taken me a while to settle him again. He's a sensitive soul and seems to only allow me to ride him.
 
I read a great article by a very good trainer years ago about training cornerstones. One of the things he said was that an owner should be pleased if their horse goes better for a more skilled/advanced rider because then he/she has taught it well and installed good basics to go on with. Made sense to me.

As a professional I would hope horses I'm working with go better for me while they are in training - otherwise what are the people paying for!?!? - but I hope when I'm done they go as well for their people - otherwise what are they paying for!?!?
