How easy is it to sell a horse in todays market?

There’s an ongoing thread about horse purchase….

So what about selling horses, how easy is it at the minute? Presumably not as easy during covid?

Not as easy as covid I’m afraid.
But good sound honest horses will always sell

It's average tbh. Good horses priced accordingly will sell but a lot of nice ones might sit still. Summer is always the best time to sell.

Not a great time of year right now. Last summer I sold two - most people are feeling the pinch of the cost of living rise so want to pay less. We had two too many - the ones that sold were younger and greener, so cheaper. The all singing all dancing one stayed in the end, which my kids were quite happy with!

I have tried to buy a horse over the last 6 weeks and failed miserably. The ones that were not quite right for me have subsequently sold as well. So depends on the horse but definitely sales are going ahead.

A lot of the good horses over here are being sold sight unseen to America. For big €.

Theres definitely a market for quality easy to do horses. Too many people get wowed by fancy adverts and end up overhorsed.
