less than a 10 min drive, I used to be at a yard over 20 mins away and that's pretty much my limit, I hated that journey so that probs didn't help either
Used to be 2 miles away when I was in Surrey, now just 18 steps from my back door, makes life so much easier especially when the weather is bad, not only that, you can keep on eye on them !
My DIY livery is 2 miles away and the ones out at grass livery are 10 miles away ( but it is fabulous grazing ).
DIY livery, I am up twice a day so it needs to be close by otherwise I would go crazy, also I have to do horses at 5 in the morning.
The ones out at grass are checked Sat, Sun and Weds by myself and the yard check daily - I did have all of them out last year on a privatly rented field with no support it was 12 miles away ( out at grass ) and I hated the travel especially in the Fog, Ice and Snow. I decided that I would rather pay more for convienience..................
The only way I would travel is if the yards near by we not suitable, but we are very spoilt for choice!!
1.5 miles if I'm naughty and drive about 100yrds down our one way system and out onto the main road to the yard but 2 miles if it's a busy day and can't sneak
Ours were 6 miles away at the last field but in rush hour it could take an hour to get there! Now they are still 5 miles away but going the other way with no traffic it takes about 10 mins, much more like it.
Mine are next door to my house. On a farm about 2mins walk away! However the youngster is turned away for the winter and his field is about 2 miles away, but I drive right past it on the way to and from work/town, so it's not a problem to pop up and check him. So lucky to have DIY livery right next door to my house, and it's really nice too.
When in the UK I had mine between 20 and 30 mins away..
Now they are right outside my door at home, The stallions paddock is right under my bedroom window which is lovely until he decided to trot up and down in the middle of the night..lol
Love having them at home though, and cant imagine having them somewhere else
It was 20 mins until last weekend and we moved house. Now it's about 2 mins and I can see the horses from my window!! So much easier. I don't ever want to move!!!
Used to be 1.7 miles from home, then I moved house but not yards, so was nearly 9 miles away, now moved horses nearer to home so about 3.5 miles.
Wouldnt want them
mine are 12 miles away and im on a private yard on my own so have to do the journey 2x a day im desperate to move either myself or the horses which ever comes first
Quickest route is 3.5 miles & under 10 mins if no traffic and if all lights are green at the 3 sets of traffic lights
Can take upwards of 20/30 mins in 'going home commuter traffic' on that route so the longer route comes into play then & its 5 miles in 15 mins or so then
2 round trips daily, 7 days a week = so making it 14/18 miles per day
