6.5 miles away, takes between 10 and 20 mins depending on traffic. I have no choice but to go by car as there's no public transport.
Several years ago, I did consider moving to a closer yard, less than 2 miles, but it took longer to drive there! (Also, grazing and hacking were nowhere near as good and it didn't have the same 'vibe' as current yard).
Used to keep my old mare 20mins drive away and would have to go twice daily as the girl i kept her with could hardly be arsed to walk out of her house just 30 secs away
The livery yard where i keep Bella is about 4 and a bit miles away, takes about 8 minutes to get there. Last one was a bit further and took 12 minutes haha.
Round the corner from work, I can walk there on a lunchtime and eat my sandwiches with my horse! But 20 mins drive from home. Used to be walking distance from home BUT if I finished late (after 5.30) horse would be left out on his own... I had to rush out of work sometimes which was hard, so I chose to move him nearer to work.
Great cos I'm a teacher occasionally I can get out at 3.30 meaning I can grab a hack in winter after work Crap cos I still have to do my work journey weekends and holidays!
Interesting reading! My lad's current yard is 2.5miles away, new yard will be 6. Not so happy about the travelling, but it's the only yard I've found that lets them live out!
I keep my girl at a yard about 15 mins drive from home. Wouldnt like to be any further as petrol is sooo expensive just now, only go once a day as yard do assisted which is great.
