How far do you transport your horses on your own?

Facing a 3 hour drive with my not 'very good to travel' horse. Bit nervous in case anything goes wrong. Have good car and good trailer, but still!

Anyone here an intrepid single driver who can give me inspiration!

Back in the days when I was on my own, I think I did about 4 odd hours on my own, but had a lorry, and could see into the back from the driver seat!

I have in the past quite regularly towed on my own, but the furthest I've done is about 1.5 hours without any problems. If you know your vehicle is more than capable to tow, that should ease things a little. Is it the travelling that's a problem for your horse or the loading?

I've been all over with the driving ponies on my own for the journeys and I'm taking my arab down to Wales at the weekend on my tod, so that'll be a good three and a half/four hours in the truck. I'm really looking forwards to it. I'll just put on some good tunes and trundle down slowly. :)

Hate towing on my own..furthest I,ve done is an hr, but will happily go further if theres another human with me:o.........own pony travels like a dream, I,m the wuss...

I take my boy all over the place on my own, always have done! Never bothers me, just get the tunes cranked on and off we go! I do talk to myself though :D

Furthest I've gone is probably 3 hours, but that's long enough in a trailer for my boy IMO

I did a 4 hour trip, one way with the two kids ponies and the kids for a camp. We went twice, it was fine, I stopped once on the trip for coffee/petrol and to give the horses a break, but did not take thm off the float, as no where safe to unload (at a large petrol station - too much traffic).

I was a bit nervous but took it at a comfortable speed. I did not feel pressured by big trucks, I just stayed in the left lane.

I live in an off-the-beaten-track place, I regularly transport my horses 2-3 hours journeys, to lessons, events etc. When theyr young and jumpy I find long journeys helps them settle down. After a few outings theyr well happy to go in and never fidget while travelling. On short trips they dont really relax. The horse has a haynet, I have the radio up and off we go! I can keep an eye on them through my back window and the window in trailer.
