how far do you travel to your livery yard?

Just moved from a yard 7.5 miles away to one 8.5 miles away because the routine and facilities suit my horse much better. Takes 15-20 minutes to get there depending on the route I take and the traffic I encounter on the way.

Five minutes. If that. I can get to horse, feed her, throw a rug on, and get to work (like a two minute walk from home) in 15-20 minutes.

About 12 miles at minute which takes anywhere from 25-45 mins depending on traffic.

Would LOVE to find somewhere nearer. Was on a yard closer to home when I first moved to manchester but it didn't suit me or my mare.

Anyone with a nice friendly small yard, near to Bollington in Cheshire, preferably with a school, year round turnout and safe fencing... please get in touch!!

Although don't think you exist :-(

15-20mins from home, 45mins to an hour from work. I'm on full livery though so I only go up to ride which makes life easier.

Like another poster, I would plan where I live around the yard than the other way around!

Just moved our herd this weekend...for the first time in 8 years of horses i am under double digit mileage at 9.4 miles...a reduction from the 17.6 miles of the last yard. 15 mins from home at the weekend. Basically the same distance from work (its a triangle), but work leaving time is about 35 mins in the traffic. But i was home before 8 tonight for the first time in months having ridden and not rushed and not being able to find anything. Bliss!!

My current yard is 20 miles from home - it can take as little as 35 minutes and as much as an hour and a half depending on the time of day. I deliberately avoid going there during rush hour. It's only 4 miles from work though :).

It's quite far to travel but my horse is on full livery so I don't have to go 2x a day and it's absolutely the best hacking available. I can go left out of the yard straight onto a bridlepath leading to woods that get to a small beach. If I go right I have miles and miles of common to ride on, which joins up to another common and a few different woods with bridlepaths through them. I can go left and avoid the woods - meaning a whole 5 minutes of quiet road work - which will take me to a track that goes to 3 different beaches and I can ride on all of them! I love my yard :p.

I love your yard too!!! Sounds wonderful.

5.5 miles on back roads, takes about 10 mins to get there, he's now on assisted during the week due to baby on the way so I only go up in the evenings to feed and rug then at weekends up twice a day :) He was 12 miles away on DIY before, the extra cost for livery is offset by the reduction in fuel.

I'm about 30 minutes from from home on assisted DIY. It's too far really, but the yard really suits my horse & we have direct off road hacking in all directions upon leaving the yard and as I predominately hack it's worth it.

I couldn't do it without my brilliant YM, who I totally trust with my horse & does one end of each day on the weekend & will finish off when I want her to in the week. It'a such a help knowing I don't have to go twice a day every day (obviously if I need to, I go back) but I probably only do twice a day 4-5 times a week which makes the distance far easier.

Thankfully, it's only a few miles from work - so not too many added miles, but in rush hour it can take 20 minutes.

I travel 3.7 miles which is a 7-10 minute drive. I work from home. Previous yard was less than a mile away but I moved for better facilities - best move I ever made.

Makes me feel better that a lot of people are 20 - 30 minutes away. Mine is 25 - 30 minutes from home and 35 - 40 from work. It is too far really and would love to be nearer home but yard suits me and my horse and we have brilliant help there and so that is the compromise. He is on part livery so I generally only go once a day.

Yard is about 20 minutes from home and 15 minutes from work. Can take a bit longer during rush hour, but not very often.

Horses are on part livery so I normally just go up once a day.

4 minutes from home and work. My office is 300 yards away and OH works on site too. Yard is DIY on farm with 200 acres off road riding/driving including woodchipped paths and jumps in a small wood. Also has an outdoor arena. Closest we have ever been to home and the horses are happy too. When I find my brave pants I plan to ride my mare to where we live. OH drove his old pony here once for an open day x

9 miles. Roughly takes 15-20 mins in the morning when i go and then anything up to an hour when im stuck in works traffic in the evening. Im not based any particular location for work so some days its better than others depending where i've ended up

6 miles. Honestly i would not be going any further, in fact this seems to far some days. Ive done it in under 10mins once in an emergency, but usually i take about 15mins.

Mines 3 miles from home, which is also were I work!! And only 1.5 miles from the kids school so it's absolutely perfect for me 😃 Couldn't wish for any better!

I travel 12-15 minutes and would hate to do much further. In the past, I've done three minutes and I've done up to 30. I've figured out that 20 is my max!

10 miles atm but as of November it'll be 16..., I'm hoping somerford is worth the extra mileage especially as I'm tackling the Wobbleberry thang this year!
