10 min drive away at home, 25 min drive at uni, I wouldn't want him further than 20 mins on a permanent fixture

15 miles, 20-25 minutes sometimes 45 minutes depending on traffic.
Im DIY so go twice a day.
Work is 8 miles so I can pop there in my lunch to bring in if necessary.

I live on it. Horses outside every window.
I have kept horses at yards, no further than a couple of miles though. I wouldn't consider even having horses now if I didn't have them at home, for what I do it just wouldn't work at all.
I guess that if the facilities ticked all the boxes then travelling is worth it.
