How far do you travel to your yard?

I travel about 1 mile along a lovely country lane - takes 2 - 3 minutes top whack. I wouldn't travel any further than 10 mins drive, i'm lazy (and I like to do my own horses twice a day, at least, every day, no-one could look after them good enough for me and my mare is fussy who handles her so I like to molicoddle her).
 
I travel just under 15minutes without traffic, there is a yard on my doorstep but it does not offer what my mare needs by any stretch of the imagination sadly, shame as i would love it to be a 1-2minute drive

3.5 miles, which is about 10 min in a car but seeing as I don't have one 20min in the pissing rain! yay! there is one 200yrs away but it doesn't have the facilities

11 mile round trip. Depending on traffic can take between 10-15 mins each way. Closest yard to where I live but then living on an island of approx 30miles in length and between 8-15miles breadth, you dont have to travel too far to reach any of it.
 
About 10 mile and takes 20-25 minutes. About half the journey is on single track roads and many of the people (idiots!) I meet are unable to reverse so sometimes I end up reversing 1/4 mile into a bay only to find the person (idiot!!)coming the other way was only 10 yards past a passing place.

Of course the other option is for them to say there is enough room, drive their car halfway up the bank and practically role their car on to me in their attempts to pass. Both ways take far more time than they deserve.
 
Had my ponies at home years ago or at the Eq centre 100m down the road (though our house backs onto the land so could see my pony in the fields.
My current horse is about 600miles away at a guess.
I will probably keep a horse at the farm where the clinic is situated so that will be very handy - can do the horse and still be only 20ft from the office!

There was a similar thread on a Canadian board recently and I'd say the average was 30-40 minutes, with many people travelling over an hour. On the other hand, I'd kill for a proper indoor arena right now . . .
 
i have just moved from a yard 1 mile away from home with no facilities to a yard 30 mins away with fab amazing facilities. i moved 4 months ago, and have not regretted it for one second! i go once per day after work.
 
I posted a similar post on here a few weeks ago, and have moved to the yard that was slightly further than i would like (13 miles about 20 mins) HOWEVER yard is SO nice, with indoor school so i can ride every time i go up, and the YM is lovely. I have found there is always at least one compromise with livery yards, and with this one its the distance from me, but it's worth it. As long as there is someone there that can take care of horsey if icey/snowy cant get to the yard then that's all that matters!

I can see the tall trees on it from the landing window.

8 mins or so in the car (I'm a very sedate driver on country lanes!)

I'm sooooooooooooooooooo jealous of those of you with horses at home.

My horse was only about 2 miles away - 5 -8 minute drive until last week which was great but facilities had deteriorated amongst other things so moved to my trainers yard 20 miles and 30 min drive away! Its taken me about 6 months to finally make the jump.

My horse is on livery and I really trust my trainer and the head-girl to look after him really well so I don't go every day or twice a day like I used to at my old yard. Work commitments are also a factor for me as I can't always be there so I need to have full trust in the YO. I still cried down the phone to my sister though as I was very nervous about him being so far away and not being able to see him every day.

I have BBEars 3.5 miles away so about 10mins tho tonight the traffic was very slow...and I was only going up to kiss her good night, I go twice a day.

BBEyes is up the lane technically 'at home' as I live on an Estate and he's still on their land. The stables are only 20 metres away from my flat, but he's living out...I usually drive to see him in the week on my way to work. BBears, but it's as quick to walk through the woods/ fields in the daylight.

I'm so pleased I have BBEars where she is, she was at home all of last year and I didn't have anyone to help and it can get a bit difficult on your own especially with a baby. She's much better on a livery yard.
 
Mine are 2 and a half miles away and it takes four and a half minutes to get there. I love being able to just pop up when I want!
 
The yard I am on at the moment is 11 miles away, and is a lovely yard, but the distance is too much for me with working full time, and going down 2x day when its 13miles from work and 11 miles from home.

Soooo, I am moving next weekend to a yard that is 3-4miles away from home, and takes less than 10mins to get there.
