and how far WOULD you travel??

Assume working full time, other pets to sort out etc - how far is feesable daily?

just curious :)

I currently travel 3 minutes :D

But after a move in July it will be 20 :(

20 would be my max - I like the yard and so won't be moving her, just hope to be able to move back closer within the next couple of years. Have never had her more than a couple of minutes away so it is going to be horrid!

mine is 4 miles away, takes about 10 minutes max depending on traffic. Its not really time for me its millage so i would travel probably 10/12 miles less if i had to go twice a day just because i couldnt afford it otherwise.

I work full time and used to do a 25 mile round trip to the yard but it was mostly via a main road so didn't take too long. More recently I was doing a 15 mile round trip but it was 20 mins each way which was more than enough with the dog, OH etc! (Although I am delighted to say we now have them at home, which is just amazing, been 20 years since I could last say that).

MILES!!! But horses on full livery so I go 3-4 times pw. It is too far but I struggled to find a nice yard locally.

When I did them myself then 10mins each way was the most, especially going twice a day!

5 mins in car, 25 mins on foot when I am helping my mum get some exercise :)

Have travelled 20mins when I was on DIY, definately wouldn't do that now, have been spoiled!

Literally a couple of minutes, just round the corner. Work ft & single mum to a 7yr old, so don't have time to be trekking about with one each on diy. If my place closed tomorrow there's a few other good yards within a 15 minute drive but wouldn't honestly manage any more on winter ams with jobs to do.

Currently travel 20 minutes

Also have 2 ponies 1 mile from home to do!

Probably wouldn't travel much further ! Although I absolutely love the yard and facilities and wouldn't change it for anything!

From my back door.

If I had to travel I wouldn't have horses at all.
I have liveries and whatnot, and raise goats, so work is also outside my back door.

30 - 40 minutes. :( It's rubbish but I can't find an acceptable yard that both me and my horse can deal with closer.

I assume you go just once a day with that??

all the decent yards here are 30 mins one way - so once a day travel...!

there are yards within 2 minutes walk....but unless i want my horse shredded with barb wire i steer clear...:(

I'm going to visit a lovely looking NF on Saturday to potentially be a share pony. :) :) :)
Should all go well, I'll be travelling an hour and a half from my home to the yard! Stupid lack of driving :(

10 minutes roughly, depends on traffic! Would love them closer but the only yard close enough is a busy riding school with facilities I don't need so a much bigger price. Trouble is its quick by road as you can just go down the a road, walking takes 2 or 3 hours at least and there's no public transport out to any of the villages out there so when/if the car breaks down we are a bit stuffed!
I wouldn't want to have them further away than 15 minutes incase of emergancies

Used to be at home but now they're about 15 mins drive away, 12 miles. Only go once a day, YO when they're in at night, feeds and chucks out as standard and when they're out checks them over in am.

Sorry, Enfys, but I'm closer than you!! :) Seriously though, out my front door and across the drive and I'm there. It's been a long wait, but I never gave up my dream. :) At one point though I was around a 25 mile/35 minute drive, I worked full time but had 2 on full livery and I rode both around 5 times a week.

Work full time, family with one child and hubby travel 25min quiet times 45 min other yard is about 12 miles away but I love it only me and one other..there is a yard 5 min away from my house but I prefer one I'm at, hate the travelling but makes it worth it once I'm there.

During winter they are kept at home, during the summer they are kept at where I work which is 20miles/30 minutes away. I couldn't keep them that far away if I didn't have to go there everyday anyway as it really is to far but it works well for me at the moment and gives my field a chance to rest.

45mins (25 miles of very bad road)! Do get fed up with amount of time I spend in car, so much money goes on diesel & not getting dinner til 10pm but yard is fantastic 5* horsey luxury & knowing he is safe & well looked after makes it all worth it!
