my horses are just round the corner from my house just 2min walk this is why i opted for this one

ireland- either a step out the back door and walk down the path and bam the stables

or 2/3 mins in the car to my aunts yard

england- 7 mins walk up the hill

My yard is 14 miles from home (previous yard was much closer) takes about 1/2 an hour by motorbike and I go once a day. Location was actually one of the negatives of this site, but outweighed by other factors.

ETA I know 1/2 hour sounds a lot for 14 miles, but much of it is unmade road!

Not sure about distance.

It takes me about 10 minutes in the car, and its location was one of the main reasons I chose the yard.

I used to walk and that took about 30 minutes.

I live 40 miles away from the yard , so it takes 45-60 minutes to get there .

But it was the only place we could find with decent facilties

Sooooooo jealous of those with horses at home. I travel 5 miles but very cheap (free) as horses are at Aunt's dairy farm. Distance away is evened out with low cost.

My yard is about 80 secs on a clear road from my house if I drive. About 5 min walk. We were lucky that the lady there before us wanted a field friend for her horse and we were told about it. Back then I was only 9 so we used to bike/walk up there as my mum doesn't drive. Now we have the yard to our selves.

About 30 mins by car, used to be 15 before we moved.

I go to ride April and that's where she is kept

Mum's horse is retired there and she is so happy we don't want to move her. Plus everyone there is lovely (so important!), it has good hacking and an indoor school.

About a 10min drive if that, I used to be about 20 - 25 mins away but that takes its toll when you work long hours and you want to see your horse twice a day.

Kerilli are you saying that you think livery isn't an acceptable way to keep a horse? We are currently looking for somewhere with land so that I can check on D without having to leave my bed

but for alot of people that isn't ever an option

Straight out of the kitchen door and up two steps

It means I can nip out in PJ's and dressing gown and get to check the horses every time I go out. This is the reason we bought this house 13 years ago. We used to have a 5 minute drive when they were at livery, but this is so much nicer.

I replied for when F was 30 miles away and I shared him 3-4 times a week. I was generally considered mad by all but I lived in Liverpool and always travelled reasonable distances to get anywhere decent to ride.

He lives at home with his owner now and i sort of ended up following and so he is a goooood..... 10 steps away!

The pony i ride, his owners yard is 15miles away, half a hour in the car. I only visit once a week to hack him out.

Parents don't seem to mind too much though, thank goodness!

I've done this based on the yard I'm movin to shortly, its half an hour away by car, but I'm moving there as local yards are not good enough anymore.

current yard is 7 minutes (no traffic) drive

How i wish i lived on my yard. Its only 5 miles away but through 30 miles an hour with loads of traffic calming so takes about 15 mins.

I put 3 times a day but i usually end up spending most of every day there as i hate leaving them especially since one had colic. WhenI'm not there i worry about them all the time. I want to put web cams up but there is no phone line. I'd love to get pp to put a house up buts its highly unlikely :-(

Takes me 30mins in the car. I would rather be nearer home but the facilities and care are 1st class so outweigh the drive. There are lots of yards nearer home but I need full livery in the week and most can't offer that service.
