How far would you travel to view a horse?

If it ticked all your boxes, sounded like the perfect horse, you loved the photos etc etc, would you travel a significant distance??

OR

Do you think your perfect horse lives in the next village?

160 miles is probably my maximum distance. Horses i currently own have been bought from between a third of a mile and 160 miles away!

up to 2 hours but would prefer under 1.

my best horse was only 1/4 mile down the road- i had been looking for months before i tried him, fell in love and bought him straight away!

It depends. I think anyone ought to be able to find a sports horse either with potential or with a competition record within a hour or two's radius without it taking forever. When I was looking for a 13h, grey, welsh section b, experienced horse driving trials pony, I would have gone anywhere there was one! I'm expecting to have to travel a bit to find a good young arab soon, but that should prove easier than the driving pony quest, which was abandoned in the end.

3 came from same dealer, one was on my yard, and one was 4hr away from yard, but only an hour from the inlaws so did both in a weekend does that count?!

I travelled 5hrs to a dealer I thought was reputable but the horse I got was wrongly described so after much arguement I was allowed to return him and get my money back. I then travelled just over 2hrs to view Tia and bought her. I think if you limit yourself to less than an hour drive then you may be spending a longer time searching.

I travelled 4 hours to see a 2 horses after seeing a vidio, both 3 years old. I was looking for a horse to do county WH, one had a big splint , the other had a big dent in its nose from birth ( have nnever seen anything like it) but the vidio was very clever in missing both points , the seller knew what I was looking for. I called her a few choice things to her face before the long trek home.

I was looking for an eventer with at least Novice potential, so traveled 4 hours to see him. Was definitely worth the trip, he's everything I wanted and more.

We traveled all over the UK to find Ellie, and looked at 23 horses in total. We found her, however, just 10 minutes away from home, in a dodgy dealer's yard
