As title really, not looking at doing alot when I get there but was thinking of riding up to a show and leading my 4yrd old so he can have a look about without doing anything. But I'm thinking it might be a bit far so just wondered how far others would go?

I have a show venue 4.5miles from me so 9miles return would go there and do 1 or 2 showing classes. But i have not gone yet as need to negotiate about 1 mile of a busy road (A10!) Will brave it one day. :)

i regulary hack round trip of just over 7 miles with my 21 yr old - but usually make sure that i have back up when i get there with water & haynets - we only tend to do 1 dressage class as i cant cope with the hanging around - but the horse is usually fine if a little tired by the time we get back - but in fairness so am i:)

I can only hack to shows as no transport and hate relying on people so we hoof it on our own now.

I led Hattie to the show we did 2 Sundays ago and that was 6.8 miles away (took us 2 hours on the nose!) so nearly 14 miles in total, did 3 classes (2 ridden, 1 in hand) and then I rode bareback for 3 miles and led the rest of the way home. My OH came to meet us at the show with tack, hay, water, etc. Hattie (15 year old TB) had plenty of energy on the way back home so that she was dragging me home by the end of it so I'd say she was plenty fit enough!

We have three shows coming up in June, one every Sunday, the first being 6.4 miles (so just about 12 miles round trip), the second show is 6.8 miles away (so nearly 14 miles round trip) and then the third one is 10.8 miles away (so just over 20 miles round trip!!!).

LOL, maybe we should take up endurance riding instead of showing! :D
