How far/long would you travel at rush hour to have your horses on the plot of land in the photos below?

Well, this may or may not help...

My maximum ever - is 20 minutes. I won't even consider a yard more than 20 minutes from home. I would go 20 mins for this so that's a positive vote right!?

I don't see an arena which would bother me but bloomin' eck it looks gorgeous.

Have been following Chico's story - please give hima kiss and a carrot from me x

Maybe 30 mins if you were the only one doing the drive , but if the out buildings in the photo are stables and there would be others ' sharing ' then longer as it does look like a little piece of heaven and well worth the trip. Also , you only want to be as far away as it would take you to get there in an emergency. The land is gently rolling which hopefully means it'll drain ok?

there is room next to the stable block for a small school if needed. Land has been very well looked after by a farmer for many years and there is a natural underground spring pool in the one field.

I have my own yard with 6 acres and 3 stables and a tack room/kitchen that i rent just for my horses and i travel 30 minutes to it every day, usually twice a day (although it is part of my trip to work as i drive for a living).

Although the drive seems quite long it is so worth it as i have as much turnout for the horses as i want, great hacking and my horses are so happy.
I pay the same as most DIY yards but have the benifits of not having to share with anyone!

So if the yard is worth it i think half an hours drive is reasonable .

looks stunning - I travel 13 mins at the moment to my own place which I bought. Its not so much the time (although this is a consideration) but the cost of the fuel ! I would probably travel max 25 mins but if it was on route to a job/work etc then time is probably not important as it would only be weekends you would be doing the journey just for the nags.

ps. if you are thinking of getting/renting it, go for it !

thanks for your replies, i was very interested to see how far you would go.

Unfortunately this land is over 30 minutes from home, probably close to an hour in rush hour.

The worst bit is that we actually already own this land! But it is just too far away for me to make use of it.

The stables havent been used for years so would need a complete over haul but they are brick and solid enough and there used to be a small school next to them but had been used as a veg patch for years but now over grown.

It is all there, just needs some love and attention. Maybe eventually we will move closer.....

Madness.... I'm in the same situation as you with land but over an hour away so pointless. What About renting a stable with someone who could turnout/bring in to make it only one trip a day in return for very good rent and what looks like VERY good grazing !!

My thoughts exactly!

With how bad we need grazing atm.....happily an hour if they can live out happily 24/7 lol! Possibly more if I could find a 'local' to hire for half hour each day to check them.

i'm not planning on moving there as it is too far, just wanted to make sure that it wasnt just me not liking driving but you have mostly confirmed that yes it is just that bit to far to make it sensible.

We are very happy at our current yard and I think we will only be moving to that land if/when our family possibly move closer to it (but not for a couple years yet).

It is rented out to a farmer atm but i would love to rent it as a yard but there is too much complicated family stuff to make that viable at the moment

Guess i will just have to wait........longer.....
