....Would you travel to a comp?

Ive got a x-country lesson next week in Cheshire and Im in Beds/Northants. Its going to take approx 3-4 hours to get there and the same back. Do you think its too much to ask of my horse to do all that travleing?

I might add, that I wouldnt usually travel this far, but this is for a lesson with Polly Stockton for a Magazine, so you can see why Im going!

If I was eventing a 4 hour trip would only get to Scone Horse Trials (the joys of living in the Highlands) so your horse will cope fine travelling and I think I would go to Cheshire if I had a lesson with Polly Stockton which would be about 9/10 hours for me!

Im nearish kirstyfk, takes us 10 / 11 hours to get to the RC Champs. My horse has always been fine on arrival. Usually I travel an hour / hour and a half to things, although will travel 3 / 4 hours to special events. Your horse will be fine

Thank you for your in put peeps.

Ive looked into staying over night, but really cant afford it!

My horse is only 6 and although very fit, Im just not sure!
Some one told me that travelling a horse is the same as riding them, is this true? Its 116 miles to this place, surly that cant be same as riding 116 miles??

well Bloss has travelled just over 7hrs in the lorry to compete in Lincoln before, but we did stay over for 2nights.

However i travel a 2.5hr trip to my trainer with Archie each time and my horse isnt affected.

Will it make a difference though, the fact that I havent taken him out competing for a few months now?
He is astar to travel and when we went to Newmarket, it took about 4 hours!
Im going xc schooling at Carlton this Sunday, so that shouls help shouldnt it?

it wont make any difference (i shouldnt think) whether hes been out competing recently or not. As long as hes fit and healthy he will be fine.

Thanks PS, he is very fit at the moment.

One more question though (sorry!) He will be ok standing still for that long wont he??

Sorry if I ask alot of daft questions, but I just worry!
