single track roads round me are littered with overhanging trees and massive potholes so prob 25-30mph

up to 40mph on the bigger, wider and better maintained roads

dual carrigeway/motorways 52-55mph max

I confess to travelling in a trailer with a youngster I had bought, a mini foal so I wasn't going to be crushed, I couldn't believe the effort the pony had to make to balance. I told my husband off when we got home for driving too fast and he hadn't gone over 30mph and most of the time he was doing 20mph. Really made me think about how horses manage when a vehicle is going quite fast.
I had to do this once. It was an emergency (they and I were being threatened by some lunatics who thought I'd reported them to a welfare charity) and we only had a cattle trailer to move my ponies, so I stood in there with them. It was definitely an eye opener.

With my (horse!) trailer I can't get above 20 on our lanes. They're in an awful state and even where it's wide enough to easily fit two vehicles, we have to be mindful of penis heads who drive the other way in the middle of the road. On the A roads the limit round here is 40-50, but I'm normally doing 30-40 on the straights, as he struggles to balance (which I now know is the PSSM1). Motorways I've only done twice, but I think I did 55 tops. The M25 Surrey stretch is not the most even section of motorway!
