Ive seen a lot worse and I dont think they are too long. Something you just have to live with. I find my flat footed chap pulls off eggbar shoes. He gets a bruised sole from time to time but generally I dont have any problems. Oh and he is 17 and a 3/4 TB and we have had him for 13 years.
The two horses I have had that contracted navicular both had excellent feet so the 'flat foot' scenario doesnt always wash by any means. Both of my two had been on extended box rest for unrelated complaints - for what it is worth I think the lack of good circulation in the foot during that time was instrumental in the development of the desease.
Interesting thread though - good luck with your problem and try not to worry so much if he is sound!
