For livery? Apparently good livery yards are not near me. They are v v expensive and miles away. Is this just having horses now? Does everyone travel?

i travel 10mins but i know someone with a horse on 7 day who travels half hour (without traffic) depends how much time your willing to give up but when we are looking for a new yard they have to be with in 10 miles and if the traffic is bad getting there it is written off as sitting in traffic is not fun :o

Don't think I am being over picky, turn out, arena and no barbed wire. Worst bit about horses is the livery yard hunt. Maybe I just live in the wrong area????

No, it doesn't sound like you are being picky! Like I said, I could keep my boy at any number of local yards but the one he is at is in a 46,000 acre private estate - you can ride out all day and never go near a road.

Good luck in your search; maybe if you say which area you are looking someone on here will be able to help :)

Two of my liveries travel for an hour each way so a two hour round trip. They both have their horses on part livery and come at least five times a week whatever the time of year. I don't know how they do it!

My stables are approx 20 footsteps from my kitchen door :D Before I moved here I was on a livery yard which was approx 8-9 miles from where I lived, I was on that yard for about 4 years.

Most of my Boarders live 20-25 minutes away, most come once a day.

Others live just minutes away, our roads are numbered, say I live on 12th, I have Boarders from 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th! All of them have facilities to keep their horses at home but prefer to pay me to look after them :o)

Personally, the furthest away I've ever had my horses has been 10 minutes by car.

I wouldn't have horses at all nowadays if I had to go further than my own backyard to get to them - anyway, I'd have a heck of a job finding somewhere to keep breeding stock, and even at my cheapo rates my (pasture) boarding, per month, would be over $2000 for my lot

At the moment my horse is in livery 1.1 miles away from my house but when we move I will have to find somewhere else as even though the yard is great, the riding is c@@p, roads only. It is also a 50 minute trailer ride from the nearest event so will move my horse to goodness knows where!!! :eel: HELP!!
