How good a rider are you?

Do you agree with Human Rights

LOL - Good poll - although I'm not sure you judge a rider by how easily they fall off (thinking jockeys here!)

I had a real humdinger of a fall at a XC last year but other than that (touches wood and probably wish I never typed that) I haven't fallen off for years!

So I guess I'm a limpet!

I desperately wanted to tick the last one but don't own a pessoa (looks too complicated!)

My whole stirrup and leather came off once on a x-country course

[/ QUOTE ]

Cross-country course be b*ggered- that thing where they shake themselves all over is enough for me. I always seem to lose both my stirrups when they do that; and its so humiliating being shaken to a jelly; and no equestrian book or video EVER mentions this, or how to survive it with dignity.

I put I can stay on most of the time...I'm pretty practised at that!!!!
grin.gif
The trouble is that if i dont stay on it usually means a bad back for a couple of weeks!!! And a chat with the paramedics of course!!! Hence why I do my best to stay on board!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

I do my best to fall off JUST so I can chat up the paramedics...

[ QUOTE ]
Well I stay on most of the time, don't wear spurs, always have hat and hate pessoas so I'm gonna be........................A LIMPET!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Ditto.... mainly thanks so my second pony who used to bronc for the first 20 mins of every lesson (he was a little excitable). Doesn't half give you a sticky bottom though

I can stay on so long as the horse has no pulse (although even then S I'm not entirely convinced)

BTW you missed off 'So good I have to ride in spurs and a dutch gag' There must be some logic behind it that they don't want to tell us

Sorry - there's a few categories I missed out!
The spurs and dutch gag thing reminds me of an instructor's complaint about my riding:
'The trouble with you' she said 'Is that you generate incredible amounts of impulsion then don't bl**dy well know what to do with it!'

This poll was only meant to be a bit of fun, and wasn't aimed at anyone, just before paranoia sweeps the board

eeek - horses can shake unexpectedly?! I think this horse riding game is getting a bit too dangerous for me...I put that I can stay on most of the time because I am getting slightly better at not rolling off sideways at every opportunity (I'm sure the fact that my pony is almost as wide as he is high, and therefor you would think it was fairly impossible to fall off is neither here nor there).

'I'm so good i dont ever have to wear a hat'
Although obviously I always do just so the novices with their trippy cardiac challenged neds dont feel so inadequate
tongue.gif

I'm a proud ground phobic limpit! The other week my mare napped, bucked and bronked on hack, aswell as walked backwards, I didn't wan't to fall off so I stuck on for dear life because the floor was a bit rocky haha!

[ QUOTE ]
I'm good enough to wear pink but I don't wear spurs OR carry a whip.
Daaang that's gooood
tongue.gif
LOL.
Actually, I'm quite stickable, but that's pure terror

me too.

Wonderful post - made me have a good giggle, though I do fit into several areas.

I can stay on a shaking horse - but Cairo does leave me with blurred vision and loose teeth - nothing shakes like a hairy clyde.

Can be a limpet - as long as you can use teeth and nails to keep on - nothing beats a mouthful of mane as an anchor
grin.gif
Advancing age means I don't get that thrill anymore so do try to avoid nutters.

That said, have recently spent 6 months on voltarol for pulled everything in my arms after hanging on for 4 huge Chancer bucks - should have let go after the first one rather than wait for gravity and No 4 having me on my bum. Thank god he seems to have scared himself so much at me flying he hasn't done it again (yet).

It's years since I've ridden, but I suppose back then I was average. I don't understand the reference to lungeing in a pessoa though.

Well, it wasn't really meant to be a serious post. I wouldn't worry too much about the Pessoa bit...perhaps it's a regional trend.

Oh I can stay on well enough I just can't get it to do what I'm asking (because I can't ask properly I guess). So if how good a rider you are depends on your stickability then I'm good - if it depends on how you get the horse to move then I'm officially crap.

I'm with Jacksmyboy. I learned to ride at the type of RS where stickability is far more important than an ability to get your horse working correctly or in an outline. Limpet hell yes, dressage star nooooo

Well I'm a limpit

SO good I have reverted to ponies

Even better as I would much rather sit in a carriage

AND I can drive 4-in-hand hatless!

But no pessoa

Pah! Don't come back until you can drive 4-in-hand, hatless, wearing pink and blue, with spurs and all four of 'em in Pessoas.
Bl**dy amateurs, huh.

It wouldn't let me vote
frown.gif
something about already having a vote from my user ID???????? wierd.

Anyway, what option do I pick if I think I am good enough wear a hat but not bother do the chin strap up? I am TERRIBLE for riding like this all the time
tongue.gif

But do you think I I tightened the back of the harness up loads, that will act like a pessoa. I have the blue and pink and spurs-must go and get a photo just for comic effect!

SouthwestWhippet - now that you mention it, on the poll options I clicked on 'Do not let SouthWestWhippet vote' box.
Rara2008 - I am sick of your excuses. You are clearly a novice rider. May I suggest that you start natural horsemanship immediately - doing the 7 games x 4 horses will take up a good deal of the day and prevent others having to watch you in public.
