How good is the hacking where you are?

I havent been riding on the beach for years its to cold I do take the dogs down there a lot. A friend of mine had her box locked into the car park by a jobsworth attendant (they wouldnt wait for her to load up) and had to hack home in near dark .

Mine's in a country park with more than 3000 acres

with only the estate road. Quite a few fields, fairly varied terrain, and the views are gorgeous.

Beaches can be hacked to as well.

We have fabby hacking. You dont even have to touch a road if you dont want to , but then we do have all the farmland to ride over as long as the grounds dry enough ( never touch it in the wet weather) but also have so nice road hacking with just quiet-ish country lanes, your more likely to meet the yards tractors than a car! Have some nice jumping for hunting aswell, mostly timber hunt jumps but a few hedges here and there. Im very lucky

Lovely hacking, I can go out of my field gate straight onto a bridleway, which leads to steep woods with lots of canterable tracks, there are reservoirs to hack around, very often you meet no traffic on our lanes, you can see deer, hares, loads of buzzards and sparrowhawks, foxes and badgers on summer evenings. As QUICKFIRE and Bosworth have also said, there is the whole of dartmoor to explore, although I'm on the edge of it, more farming country than moorland.

Not really jealous S-t-R.

Which side are you? I lived in Bovey so we had the Haytor side and the hacking there was brilliant, our racehorses never even knew they were being fittened.
When I lived in Plymouth we were up at Yelverton, so straight on the moor again.

Wales, well, my field gate opened on to a mountain, say no more. I miss the hacking in Wales, if not the absolutely dire weather.

We have good hacking, lots of different length rides, decent bits of roads, nice woodland, streams and plenty bridleways across fields. We've got Harewood House one side and Bramham Park on the other side so much of the land is an extension of theses estates and their farms.

We do have some busy roads but you don't have to stay on them long and the other roads, although they can have some fast traffic on they are not scarily narrow lanes with blind bends or anything.

hacking is RUBBISH here. its all road work. admittedly only lanes, but no fields you can go on unless you hack for 3/4 hours and you may only find one field!
we are wilts/glous border

We're on the Wilts/Glos border too - the roads are crap - slippery and big lorries but we can go off road over a disused airfield or round some gravel pits.
If we want to go totally off roading we go over to Cirencester Park - hack for hours and use the long rides for some quick work

Where we used to be you could get up on to the Ridgeway which was fab too.
