So how happy are you with your horse, and if you could change anything about them what would it be? If you were looking for a horse now would you buy the same one again? Also how much do you put up with as it is easier than buying a new one? And how bad would it have to be before you decided to change horses?

i wouldnt change Bloss for the world. She has her quirks (can nap when hacking on her own and has a huge buck when shes excited) But shes a saint at competitions, always behaves perfectly and trys her hardest to please all the time. Id definately buy her again as shes taught me so much.

How happy? Very
smile.gif
almost my perfect horse!
What would I change? His previous training NOT to touch water then I could go play eventing again.
Would I buy the same one? Definitely.
How much do I put up with. Just not eventing but his plus points far out weight that.
Cant see me changing horses.

Only wish I could the Turbo on in the Donkey more often!!

However having said that I trust her completely feel totally safe on her when riding and don't think you could ask for anything more.

Would not trade her for a million CB's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't change Chex, wish I could take 20 years off him though

He's not perfect (far from it
smirk.gif
), but we are well suited and he's my little darling!

I don't think I could have a horse I was scared of, or one that deliberatly wanted to hurt me.

I wouldn't change AmyMay for the world. She's not perfect and at times has been a real challenge, but do not regret for one minute having bought her.

Wouldn't buy her again mind you - but not for the reasons stated above. Freddy was my ideal horse. Strapping big TB with plenty of bone and bit a spark - perfection on four legs.

I think the only thing I would change about snoop is for him to stand quietly in the lorry.
He is easy in every other way, dont get me wrong hes sharp, and hightly opinonated but I think thats what gives him the edge.

With Winston, probably should NOT have bought a horse with such rubbish feet, i went with my heart not with my head. However i think like with every horse you purchase or ride you learn all the time. Plus i probably wouldnt buy a horse who had been ridden by a professional (male) more than female.
Equally through having winston ive probably become a better rider.

If i was on the look out for a horse now, i would still pick snoopy. Would just like to have a bit more cash to have more training.

I'd change him being grumpy when eating his breakfast or tea, and the fact that he can spook at birds and is not briliant in the front at canter.
Would definately buy him again if I had to, wouldn't change him though would have to get pretty bad before I'd consider doing that

Still getting to know eachother, so I hope we will end up with a good bond. Not speaking to him at the moment however as he seems to think it's funny to take his shoes off in the field and then hide them from mummy lol
wink.gif
We seem to be getting along well in all seriousness though
grin.gif

Wouldnt change Accy for all the tea in china just sometimes i wish he was a little older and further along

I love my pony to bits she is the funniest little thing ever and all i have to do is look at her to make me laugh or happy.
I would change the fact that she is prone to laminitus though!!

My horse, well only had her a few weeks, im getting a good bond with her now but i would change the fact that she is bloody lame and we don't no what the problem is!!!!

I have been 100% happy with my current horse, he owes me nothing but I owe him everything, he has taught me so much, not only about riding but about myself (yeh sure another horse could have done that to but it was this one that did).

About him I would change nothing but for my next horse (in addition to this one) I would get one to take me further in dressage and teach me even more.

How happy? Blissfully happy
What would I change? turn his age back 14 years, and do more competitions
Would I buy the same one? no hesitation
How much do I put up with - where to start, the dodgy knee, the cold back, the current thoroughpin, the list goes on!!!!

He's my first horse and he is an absolute gent, wouldn't change him for the world!!

Been there, Done that, never again - they can't cope with normal riders

I am about as happy as i could wish for with Bo. If i could change anything, it would be to make him a little less 'fragile' but apart from that he can and will do pretty much everything i will ever want to do now, and go as far as i will ever want to go
smile.gif
Yes, he can be highly strung, and yes he can throw his toys out of the pram sometimes....but the best ones usually can and do
smirk.gif

I just wish i'd had him when i was a teenager as i really think he would have been the horse that kept me riding....

I've had mine a year and love her! She has really come on (shes only 5 now). BUT...wish she didn't kick out hunting!

My horse is with me for life. She has her quirks but IMO you learn so much more when riding with these types of horses. If I could change 1 thing I would make her braver as she can be such a wimp.

Very happy with P, wouldn't change him for the world.
Would buy him again in an instant
grin.gif
id like to think he has come a long way since I first got him but its been totally worth it!
I do put up with stuff sometimes, sure he will have poles down and might not jump as high as I may like but I wouldn't want to get another horse for those reasons. He has to put with with my mistakes and bad riding days too
grin.gif
When he is with you, he really is with you and I feel as if he would jump the world
grin.gif
You have to take the good with the bad!!!
I'd never change him because of ability etc but if I ever felt that I was in danger or losing the enjoyment factor I would rethink where I was going. Having said that I would just stop riding him, he would never be sold!

We are either not strong enough or not they arent used to being put in the wrong place and still expected to jump. (Winston on both counts unfortunately) Hes an easy dressage horse tho lol

I wouldn't change Bert for the world (if this post had been up yesterday it might have been a different response)

I will never sell him or part with him unless the time comes where he needs to go to the meadow in the sky.

That said I will also never get another one, there is no other creature I am prepared to wallow knee deep in freezing mud, in the dark at stupid oclock in the morning for!

My Horse nearly gets sold every day for a tenner as he can be so horrid but he is young and with my instructors help (who has the patients of a saint) he is getting better all the time.

I knew I should have listened to my mum when she kept saying no youngsters get a schoolmaster but no went and bought a very sharp but very talented youngster.

It was going well till I found out I was pregnant and now since having her the OMG need to look after myself and not get hurt mechanism kicked in. I have gone from being a fearless idiot that gets on anything to useless wimp.

Anyway I will keep working at it as I know he has masses of potential if I can tame him enough! He is a nice person which also helps.

If I was to buy another horse would I by a similar horse, the answer would be yes as I don’t seem to like giving myself and easy life!

So far so good with Porridge! I would like her to be a little bigger, but I can live with that, oh and a dapple grey colour instead of bay LOL!!

[/ QUOTE ]

I could guess what you would write LOL! Having owned a 16.2 Snow white horse - never again!

Very happy with them.....there's nothing I would want to change about any of them.

Yes I would buy the same ones again.

I don't put up with any nonsense, freaking, spooking - thankfully I don't have to.

If any of my horses showed any of the above /\ and did not respond to desensitising then I would have no hesitation in finding them alternative accommodation. I just will not put up with bad behaviour from a horse anymore.

Chum's good points far outway his bad points so I am very happy with him. He's my first pony and the thought of buying another scares me to death, I think I dropped lucky with him.
Would be nice if he was a bit younger and a bit bigger
smile.gif

I love both mine, and would still get them as they have both given me so much and made my life so much happier.
Lady I would make a hand taller, less fizzy, thats about all I'd change with her. Fudgy I'd make less bargy and more confident when hacking alone

Wouldn't change Bailey for the world I absolutly love him
smile.gif
! He's put up with me so much and still tries his heart out to do whats right! He has his quirks and have to watch if he hasnt jumped in a while he doesnt enjoy himself too much
smirk.gif
!! But overall he's a total dude!

I would change him windsucking if i could but its nothing major. I would definitly buy him again, I wish I could keep him until after uni but it isn't possible, I'd love to buy him back one day as well as my other super pony (but he's in a home for life darn haha!)

I'm very happy with Meg, she's the best horse I've had the pleasure of owning
cool.gif

If I could change anything, hmm... I would like her to go forward of her own accord, not just when she's getting chased by a lunge whip, and I'd like a little less attitude and arguing back from her. But I guess they're part of her, and life would be dull without a few challenges
smirk.gif

I would definitely buy her again, although I did take a bit of a risk, and have been lucky it's turned out so well for me. She was from a dealer, and was in very bad condition when I got her. I felt so sorry for her (she had such dull eyes and depressed air about her) I had to buy her
crazy.gif

I've put up with a lot before selling with previous horses, it took me two nasty falls and numerous bolting sessions before I gave up with horse before Meg, and I had him for 18 months before calling it a day.
I can't see me ever selling Meg, I deliberately bought a quieter horse (no TB in it was my only stipulation - sorry TB fans!) so that if I decide to have a family in the next few years, then I can turf her out at grass, or on loan, and not have to worry about her
