Have decided against buying at the moment due to a run of bad luck and broken horses. The latest being the CB being pts at the end of the month and the youngster now needing time off before backing - if he ever is rideable. So have been looking for a loan...I am amazed how hard it's proving given the current climate.

Everything is either too small, 500 plus miles away or riddled with arthritis/navicular, etc. Or must stay on current yard. Or they're actually looking for a sharer. Or the loaners seem to just be timewasters. No idea what to do as I can't leave the gelding on his own for long once the mare is gone. I thought there'd be loads out there!!!

God, won't tell you how easy it was to find mine. Literally the first horse i saw, and i wasn't even looking :/

Maybe thats the key, don't look and it will magically appear haha
 
Hmm, horses4homes is one of the places I have looked, there was one horse suitable and the owner hasnt replied to the application.
Surely there must be something over 16hh out there which isnt lame?
 
It is generally the smaller ones isn't it. Mines 15.2 but almost 16hh. Do you NEED 16hh or just prefer?
 
Need, Im 5'10 with long legs and anything below 16hh looks and feels seriously wrong! 16.2 plus would be even better, I also worry about weight. Im not heavy but I dont like to push it.
 
I'm 5'9 and my new horse is 15.2 and i'm not light. Shes a tank though so i don't feel like im huge on her. I felt HUGE on my 16.1 TB and i was lighter than i am now.
 
The Flat season is over and plenty of slow/older racehorses will be being kicked out of training just now. No harm in firing an email off to local trainers and giving one a home if you fancy such a thing?
