I'm after a nice standard english leather cavesson noseband snaffle bridle but every bridle I seem to come across in my tack shop or online shops is fitted with a flash or grackle noseband as standard!!

Can anyone help with any suggestions?? I'm after a nice one to put on my boy to do a bit of dressage and I quite like the black ones with white padding or just a padded black snaffle bridle.

Recommendations....?! :)

I struggled to find a plain bridle as well, crank nosebands seem to be very common too :(.

I got a bridle made up in the end, very pleased with it.

I used 'Bespoke Browbands' they can be found on Face Book.

Thanks all for the suggestions, I'll do some googling this afternoon! I do get a bit grumpy when tack shopping as cannot stand all these jazzy nosebands which serves no purpose of use to my boy at all.

And thankyou for the FB suggestion Ashgrove.

This annoys me too. What I find even worse is that even some of the more respected manufacturers will happily advertise a complete bridle but with a flash or grakle or crank, and then expect you to buy a plain noseband as an extra. I mean, ??? Surely it should be the other way round - why sell gadgets as standard?

In fact it's a poor show all round because it presumably encourages less experienced people to use unnecessary tack.

I had this problem for MONTHS! I luckily managed to get a very good condition Harry Dabbs on eBay for a steal of a price, but I couldn't find a new one I liked for less than £100. They are all flash nosebands nowadays it seems.

I have a stubben with a plain noseband. It's very nice but a bit more pricey than some bridles. It's available from the stubben website or Ride-away stock them as well.

I use Rob Steinke at the Museum of the Master Saddler, who makes the most gorgeous bespoke bridles for not a lot of money. The last one was a FS plain hunter bridle with laced reins, and cost €100. He has also made me a beautiful show pelham bridle with 2 sets of reins, one laced on plain, for €120. Cannot recommend him highly enough.

I ended up getting one custom made for my old horse as I wanted a plain flat hunter noseband like I used to have as a kid!

Luckily when I sold him and bought pony, the noseband still fits her so was able to keep on using it and bought a very old rest of bridle off a friend (which really needs placing at some point).

Oooh maybe I'll do some bridle shopping this weekend :D

Hi
Don't know what size you want but I have one for sale - bought it for ID youngster, never used it as it was too small. pm me if interested.

as Someone said earlier on a previous post why would manufacturers make 2 different bridles when they could just make one that serves the same purpose and save money?

Could you not just cut the flash loop off? Its not hard, I have done it on all of my bridles easily without a problem.
