How hard is it to find a horse these days to loan?...hmph :(

I am still looking for a horse to full loan and possibly buy in future I just wish now that I had the cash up front to look to buy one...think I could've done this quicker lol...

Am I being unrealistic in what I am looking for maybe? seems that what I am looking for everyone else is too?...

Please could someone perhaps do me an advert to use....maybe it's this that isn't helping?

Searching for a 15.2hh + cobby type for Show hunter/working hunter classes at local level hacking out alone and in company without being naughty or spooky as I had my confidence knocked slightly out hacking, to do some schooling fun rides, hunter trials and endless amounts of love and cuddles.
Not hugely fussed on age although nothing too old so I guess max of about 13/14yrs... owing to what I would like to do and would possibly buy in future.

Good to load, catch, shoe clip etc etc and be stabled with preferably no vices, although wouldn't discount such small ones if the right horse.

I have a fantastic home waiting for the right horse I have so much time to give and would treat as my own anyway and my old lad wanted for nothing.

So please could someone draft up an advert for me?

Do I put my details down as a rider/person e.g my height weight and experience?

I'd really appreciate your help guys....so desperate for a horse to love again.

I don't think your being un-realistic in what your looking for, just looking for what a lot of people are! Do you have any money to buy right now, just saving whilst owning a horse is very difficult (i found anyway!)
I was going to suggest my mare for you but she can be a dodgey loader so didnt in the end!
keep looking, tried preloved?
 
Aw I do feel sorry for you - I have been keeping an eye on loan adverts as I am looking for a horse on loan in May, and have noticed on the forum how long you have been looking for a horse!! There must be something out there, but with the hassle you are having, I am starting to wonder if it's the right way to go and if I'd be better off just saving up to buy something!!

ahh thats a shame then about your mare...

Thought I was looking for what everyone else is too...typical!

I have tried all the sites in the world I think lol, I am on them daily...nothing new around and the ones that sound ideal are too far away or they can't be moved.
 
I feel your pain... After giving my boy away last year due to financal and time issues - all i am looking for is a horse 1 or 2 days a week & would pay my way - (without being bigheaded) i am experienced & dont want an dobbin (not that there's anything wrong with them!) - can i find anything..... not a chance :(

Where are they all!?!?!
 
About as hard as it is for the other half of us that are looking for the perfect home.

Everybody always seems to be looking for the opposite of what you have to offer, very frustrating!!

I'm looking for a new home for my mare at the moment, but I don't think she would suit what you are looking for unfrotunately.

I've had so mamy bad experiences with loaners in the past. Dishonest people looking for a freebie, you'd think people would be queueing up to find a genuine, and honest loaner!

well I have had a response to the big lads owner in respect of his probs, she has had the vet out and treated him or at least looked at him and identified what I said soon as I saw him...he had back and neck issues...I tested this when I saw him...tender to the touch along his back and couldn't bend well through his neck either, so am still interested as he was a genuinely lovely young boy and has sooo much potential to be a super hunter type...just needs work 1st which isn't an issue at all...more than happy to work him up well and plus if I do have him he will get turnout which he doesn't get much of now and regular work and lots of fuss.

It can't hurt to go and visit him again I guess?..
 
Oh I know the feeling!! Though I am looking to buy-have been looking for months on end and it's really winding me up! :mad::(
 
If you went back and saw him and liked him just as much as the first time around, could you speak to the owner and maybe make it a condition of the loan contract that she would put money towards the treatment needed on his neck/back, or get them to agree that if after a certain time period of you working on him, if it hasn't got any better and he isn't suitable for the type of work that you took him on for then you could return him to her.

If the owner really cares about the home that her boy is going to then I'm sure she would be open to these kind of suggestions.

Same the other way too!!

I am trying to find someone who wants to Share my boy... I am offering the whole weekend and evenings too (very flexible) with the use of a school, no stable chores unless people really wanted to help out and flexible in expenses - looking more for someone to spend time with him and having fun - nothing, nada nilch!

Sounds perfect!! Where are you based?! Have you advertised at all? Very surprised no one has taken you up on it - what is your horse like? x x x
 
Merlywerly I may be loaning my mare in a month or so, but I think you want sooner than that? I don't know where you are in Essex but if you are anywhere near Dunmow you can come and ride her. Give her a week or so though as I am taking the foal off her tomorrow!
Shes good in all ways, no vices, but can spook out hacking, a leap sideways rather than a spin round.
This is a new decision as theres no way I can do her justice and break in the 3 year old and play with the yearling.

its the otherway round aswell lol Im looking for a sharer or a loan home for my boy. Hes 15.3hh and an absolute gent to ride etc. Has helped me so much with my confidence and my riding. No one seems to be interested :( The yard where he is kept has an indoor school and the stables are indoor aswell, lovely hacking. But nothing :(

Pony gal, I'd be interested but sadly I think most places in Cambs would be a bit too far for me to do him justice. Anyone around the Essex/Suffolk borders looking for a sharer, step this way, I work at home 3 days a week and work flexi time so have time weekdays, for riding, mucking out etc.

See, i'm the complete opposite, I can't find anyone to loan my boy! Ive had a couple of people message me about full loan but I want to put him on part, and no one seems interested! probably doesn't help he's 17.2 but i'm 5'4" and i love every inch of him!
 
I've had a friend of mine offer me her gelding too all of a sudden horses are appearing from every angle lol....the friends horse is a lovely warmblood type x 17hh and safe as houses just needs schooling over jumps but that's easily sorted, he has nothing wrong with him she offered me him as she knew how well I looked after mine...that was lovely of her meant alot hearing someone say that...he was my world....so anyway I will be driving down to see him and if he's right in many ways then I will be arranging collection or delivery to my yard as soon as possible...so fingers crossed....

Another friend offered me her mare too - she's lovely a BSJA mare quite a handful at times and hates traffic, although i'm in countryside would be no good if I came across some farm traffic...shame as I've always liked her, know her very well, great at dressage.

so it seems that my empty stable won't be empty for much longer....things are starting to look up for me...YAY! :D :D
