My friend advertised her ned for sale as a happy hacker as he has foot problems, all the way through she has been absolutely truthful and told potential buyers he will only ever be a happy hacker and is more than happy to trundle along on a bute a day.
Somebody came to see him and said he was exactly what she was looking for as she had a bad experience with another supposed horse advertised as a happy hacker. She came and rode him and loved him and said she would think about things and get back. She then rang and said she would have him and pick him up on Sunday, in the meantime three other potential buyers have rung and been told he's been sold!!
Sunday arrives and nothing, when called her phone is turned off and no message whatsoever and that is how it stayed. My friend has left a number of messages and none have been returned.
Had she rung up and said she had changed her mind my buddy would have been quite accepting but to just leave people in the lurch with no contact I think is so utterly rude!!

Now THAT is a timewaster.

Had exactly same thing with my lorry. Said they wanted it and coming to collect next day so removed ad cancelled all those who had arranged viewings that week, deleted all e-mail enquiries then late same night short text saying not coming now don't want it, didn't even say sorry.

Ditto Nuala here, sorry for your friend, I don't suppose she kept numbers for the other callers, just in case this happened?

If i,m selling one and a potential buyer as stated they will pick the horse on a certain day i will tell them unless you leave a deposit the horse is still for sale and may be gone when you come to collect. There are so many time wasters out there i have not sold a horse for over four years, but have plenty of tales of joy riders coming for their weekly ride on a for sale horse . I truly believe there are people out there that do this. Lets face it they see it as a free ride and better than paying a riding school. I am not saying that this is what these people have done but they could of let you know they had had second thoughts .

That happens more times than you could imagine and does my brain in!!i dont see why people have such a problem being honest, i've also had people turn up to look at a lovely Hannovarion x TB i had many years ago, he was stunning and moved beautiful but to big for me at 16.3hh and me being 5ft 1in, the people came up the yard looked in his stable at him, Said 'he's neck's too long' and propmtly left again!!

Yes rude and good advice above re deposit etc and not taking off the market till its actually gone.
I sold a horse who was tried by someone three times in different situations, checked over by her trainer, vetted and passed, then on the day she actually showed up with her trailer to collect him she started having doubts!!!!

People complain about dodgy sellers but there are plenty of dodgy buyers out there too!!

To my mind...until the horse is on the wagon and the cheque has cleared...its still for sale.

I had people queueing up to buy our shettie last year, had a woman travel a long way for her...I was dubious that she would turn up due to the distance inviolved ( she did, and was lovely) but I kept others in the picture and told them I would be in contact if she was still for sale.....kept all my options open cos I didn't want to be burned.

bet your friend is well pee'd off.
