How interested are your family in your horse/horses?

Mostly not at all, though they have now accepted that they have a four legged, be-tailed (great)grandson

My auntie B and nan have been to one show; auntie B is interested but doesn't know much. My other auntie has a horse and is the only one who will chat at length with me about horses. Parents have no interest and are a bit scared of them but have learnt to ask as I will tell them anyway

OH will politely listen to me telling him about what I've done and has been to shows/up the yard but was thoroughly bored the whole time.

A few people on the yard have parental support and sometimes I am a bit jealous of then having help to look after their horses/at shows, but then most of the time I'd rather know I've done everything myself

I can measure their interest in the fact that I've competed at HOYS a few times and not one person turned up to watch

I tried to explain it was the biggest show in the country and they just didn't get it.

mine are not interested either which suits me just fine. rang mother last week to tell her Taylor had won her jumping class and all i got was didn't even know you were at a show .The fact i had asked her to drop my youngest two off at my friends in the afternoon as we were at a show totally slipped her mind .
If they do know we are going to a show and the girls don't win/get placed there response is, you should sell them horses as they are duds!!
When they found out Otto had arthritis the old man said, you better shoot that one then, Ash had a blue fit at him!

Nobody in my family apart from my daughter obviously, has even seen my horses

well, thats not strictly true, my parents have seen Fly as a three year old (she's now ten) and seen photos of the others but they've never seen the gang in the flesh

And the most they comment is to tell me to get rid of them to whch I usually hang up the phone

Mine are completely unhorsey!! same as a couple on here the most i say is "hes fine" lol! else they just look confused. They have never been to see my horse, apart from my dad who petends to be interested just to be polite and who i managed to once con into taking me to a show! other than that they couldnt care less! lol

Son does not even know their names!!

Hubby on the other hand is wonderful (except when he starts telling me how to ride!) comes to shows and spoils them rotten. He is moaning about coming into the ring to groom for me, but changed tune when i told him it was the only way he could have a free pass!!!

In laws are scared stupid of them!

Mum and Dad both love Dylan

Dad used to ride when he was younger; that's what got me into it - with the stern promise that I would take it seriously, and not do it for 6 months then get bored (after 12 years, I think I've held up my end of the bargain lol). Mum wasn't horsy, but now mucks out, changes rugs and fills haynets as well as anyone I know. My sister rides as well, she's got a pony on loan from the riding school.

My OH, on the other hand .... if I talk horse for more than a minute or 2, I can actually see him glazing over hehe!
