I cannot understand why some people leave the top door at the front the their trailers open whilst towing along roads, with the horse in there with its head poking out!!!! What are these people on? Do they have no idea how dangerous it could be? If something flew up off the road or off a passing vehicle, the horse could be seriously injured and or put off going in a trailer for the rest of its life. What possible purpose can it serve? How can people have such little regard for their horses?

I totally agree. I have no problems with back doors being left open but the front ones are just asking for an eye to be poked out

ah sorry-read it in a hurry as 4 year old daughter was bugging me and korma cat was climbing on keyboard! I only ever have front doors open when a.I load her so as she can see out and b.when I arrive at venue. Its asking for trouble, though it does make you wonder if they have infact loaded and tied the horse properly. Mine has doesnt get her head out as the breast bar prevents it and of course she is tied.

Someone near us travels their very large horse this way all the time - It looks so dangerous. They bomb along with the horses head sticking out into the oncoming traffic . They are the sort of people who will not be told that it is dangerous

Poor horse

Actually some horses need to see the horizon to be able to balance, that's why some horses try - or if they are loose in a trailer - to turn around and see out of the back. This may have been why you saw a horse travelling in this way.

Yeah, I find it crazy as well. Would scare the hell out of mine thats for sure!

Although saying that, after taking my 3yo Welsh out in the trailer yesterday, I was shocked to look through the front window (whilst travelling) to see him LOOKING OUT OVER THE BACK DOOR!! That was NOT how Id left him! He'd managed to break his string, and do a 180 degree turn so he was facing backwards! He is very small and I fear the parition area is a tad too wide for him if he can perform this party trick!
