How is deciding a horse is not for you 'timewasting'??

I was labelled a time waster because I travelled 100 odd miles each way TWICE to see a horse. I then dragged my vet the same distance to do a 5 stage and the horse failed big style.

I think I know who wasted more time tbh.

Surely the 'timewaster' is only 'timewasting' if the seller is refusing to let other people come try the horse when the 'timwaster' is? I mean, I know when I was looking at horses they oftenhad already had a couple of people, or were expecting a few more.

You're only a timewaster if the seller removes the horse for sale whilst you make a decision, and that would be dodgy in my eyes anyway.

Recent timewaster i've had was 'we've decided to get a yearling instead' 2 days after spending an hour with my 4yo and making an offer immediately.
Biggest one of all was well documented on here. Deposit and 2 weeks livery left after viewing, came here to meet the transport, turned him away (can't remember the reason now!). Kept me hanging for another week before saying she didn't want him - sold him at next viewing (now owner is on here somewhere!).
TBH, tend not to get so much of them now as put people off as much as I can on the phone - that way 9/10 viewings buy. Even if I have to go through 20 calls and hours of bullsh#t to get one.
Still get a lot of 'oh is he really 16hh' - 'i'll get the stick and prove it to you if you don't believe me!':-).

What I am wondering is why so many of you appear to waste your own time by going back to re read the ads of animals/items you have already decided you are not interested in buying?
How else would you know they have typed something out about you?

when looking for a share / loan i got this and people were really rude!! i dont think i wasted anyone time. if i had took a horse and it wasnt right for me it would only lead to longer term problems surely

That's one of my pet hates! If I was selling a horse, I'd rather someone came to see it 5 times and decide its not for them than buy it and it not work out.

OMG that is shocking!!
I heard of someone recently who was going to view a horse quite a distance away spoke to her instructor about it and when she described horse he knew another girl from the yard had been to see it and it FAILED the vet. She rang lady back who completely denied that girl ever came to see it and it had never failed the vet. She spoke to the other girl herself who confirmed it was 100% definitely the same horse!!

it's not hard to work out who you are talking about. from what i've seen they put that on most of there ads. i don't it's aim at your sharer.

I now refuse to ring ads that say .. still for sale due to timewaster.
I have been on the other end more than 5x this last few months whilst looking for another horse , I spent 2hrs driving one way to see a horse 15.2 big!cob was more or less a 14.1 show hack far far from a cob which had been hogged she had him in a cherry roller to lunge as she thaught it was nice for him to play with in his mouth !! to say her daughter rode him alot ,funny that for a unbroken horse needless to say i diddnt buy as everything she said she constantly tripped herself up but was very rude when i said the horse was not for me after 5mins she ended up taking the horse off the market after months of trying to sell why not be honest and then theres a better chance of selling .
All others advertised as 15hh plus I have seen have all been a hand smaller than said totaly a waste of my time! to the point I started to take a hight tape with me!
Another failed vetting so badly it had over 5 different problems owners were very rude to me when I said as it had failed I woulnt be buying ! as stated before the vetting! same horse was later advertised as open to any vet!
I understand there are complete timewasters out there that do mess sellers around for a day out .
It angers me that some good people are labled timewasters as they were lied to about the horse in question.

When we started looking last year I started by going through all the ads & picked about 20 that looked intersting most were all sold or not worth going to see. 2 that were sold, subject to a vetting in the next couple of days, phoned me back a few days later to say the buyer had turned out to be a time waster. Now I alway assume "still for sale due to timewasters" means failed vetting!

I suspect I am a timewaster. I would want to try a horse at least twice - once in company and once on its own. And then I would want it vetted. I'm not a dealer - I'm a private individual with limited funds and I'm looking for a horse to keep for life. It's not a spur of the moment decision.

I once bought a horse who turned out to be completely wrong for me, after being hurried into the sale. When I came to sell her, I made sure prospective buyers came out to try her in every possible situation so that they knew what they were taking on.

Ridiculous that the dealer would automatically expect your sharer to have bought the horse! It's a massive investment buying a horse, not only financially, but emotionally and everything else. At the end of the day not every horse is right for every rider.

Didn't realise that if you didn't buy every horse you viewed you were labelled a timewaster. What about the sellers who are far from truthful?
