This is Leo my 2 and a 1/2yo Welsh Section D colt. Other than being toed out on the fronts i'm wondering what everyone thinks of him? Good or bad i'd like to hear :D Oh, and please ignore the dandruffy saddle patch on his back, i'd only just long-reigned him up the lane and back!! Many thanks.

Very handsome! :)
How is he bred?

Thankyou! He is by Broughton Dilpomat and London Victoria. He has a lot of Derwen's in his family tree and Nebo Black Magic too! I'm not great on breeding etc, but i've searched up a bit about these and they seem to have been very popular in their day :D

If you know any more about them i'd love to hear?

:D I think he has a gorgeous head :D

Haha, so do I when he's not trying to use his teeth on what ever's in sight to play with!!

I'm afraid toe out (splay-footed) is a major dislike of mine...

Same for me but i'm hoping they will come straighter as he grows? He's also having corrective trimming as well to bring them back to how they should be. However he was cheap for what he was and exactly what i was after! (other than his front feet lol)!

Don't take anything I say too seriously, I'm still learning! :p

His neck looks odd to me but could be his age. Does he have a haynet? looks like he's building up the muscle on the underside rather than the top.

Looks like a decent shoulder to me, and looks fairly long in the back for a welsh but not necessarily a bad thing (at least he's got room for a saddle unlike some :p)

Handsome boy :D

Thanks for that! :D Nope he eats all hay from the floor but I have noticed his under neck muscle lol. I'm not quite sure how he got that either

When he's long-reigned he has a lovely natural head carriage which in no way is building up the underside of his neck lol.

Thankyou though thats great! Please keep it coming :) I know i am very biased as i love him to pieces but its nice to hear opinions from other peoples point of view! As i do tend to look past everything thats 'wrong' with them looks/conformational wise lol.

:) He's nice, will be nice to see how he turns out when he's finished growing! For a comparison, here's my lad as a 2 year old (not the best photo).

His neck could just be the way he carries/holds himself. Hopefully it will come in time :)

to me he looks a bit long in the back for my liking (but I do like them nice and compact)

He also looks to be a bit forward set in his shoulders in the first set ot pics but not in the latter ones you posted.

Again, in the first his neck looks like there is too much muscle underneath but in the latter looks nice.

hindquarters look good and solid might like to see the tail a smidgen higher.

Lovely face with 'kind eyes'

All in all, from thefirst set of pics I didn't particularly like the look but in the second set of pictures I really like him aside from the length of the back (but then as I have said I go for 'compact types')

I was going to comment about his neck too, its hard to tell as the other body shot it looks much better. Without a proper square on picture conformation is so hard to judge (plus I'm no expert)

My other thing is his pasterns, they look long and rather slopping in a few of the pictures

I'm no expert but for what it's worth I think he's got a very handsome head, front heels look a bit low but hard to tell from a photo and I think he'll be lovely when he matures and fills out.

I'd love a Section D. I sometimes have the pleasure of riding one locally and he is such a lovely boy :)

What a handsome chappy :)

My 2yo often looks like her neck is upside down if I don't stand her up properly. Think it's a baby thing!

He looks like he'll be a lovely chappy when he's all grown in to himself.

Thankyou for all of your kind replies!

xRobyn - Your boy looks stunning! Do you have any pictures of him fully grown and filled out? I'd love to have an idea of what Leo is going to look like when he's older :D

I know it's very hard to judge from a photo but you've all been brilliant :D! With the correct work when he's older i'm hoping his neck will sort itself out!

Here's a pic of him playing in the field and how he holds his head naturally when prancing around

Oh, and thinking back when i bought him 6 months ago, he was eating from a haynet in his stable so maybe this is where it's come from? :)
