How is my loan horse's weight he's a Irish Sport Horse gelding, hes due to go home in 2 weeks I'm just wondering what is he like weight wise, you can see his ribs slightly when he streches and I'm panicing cause I think he should be a little fatter going home, could just be cause I used to looking a ponies and cobs anyway, what would ye score him as?

Thanks in advance

How much work has he had. I would say for this time of year as a leisure horse i would want him carrying a little more weight to allow for some loss in winter without having to feed a ridiculous amount. But that's because mine have always been poor doers in winter so i try to fatten up over summer in prep!
Why is he going back? Looks a lovely sort.

I'm going back to school in september and wont have time for him so he's going home, which was the arrangement from day one, suits me fine though, I wouldn't say hes worked very hard but he does alot of hacking, we cover about 7km a day hacking with loads of hills and plenty of active trotting (not plodding, he doesnt do plodding more of a power walker :P ) He gets ridden 6 days a week, so I'd like to think he's a little bit fit

Heres a picture of us last week with the good weather (I know the hat strap is open don't kill me I forgot to do it up :(

He looks better in the tacked up pic. That's prob why he doesn't have any excess weight then as he is doing alot.
Surprised he doesn't have much top line tho, my friends ish is much more top line in similar work. Each horses is different tho!

Ya I was hoping he would muscle up a little from all the hill work but anyway doesn't matter cause I love him to bits anyway :) going to be so sad to see him go home had the best couple months with him, Hopefully I'll be able toget him back on loan again when I'm not tied up with school :)
