Ive also put this in Comp

Hello so I've owned Zazou for around 10 weeks now.

She is a 9 year old mare but was a brood mare and only recent put under saddle this year,

Ive taken her back to basics and treating her like a just back 4 year old, as she is very green and was all over the place when I got her, no canter at all she would just run in a panic and eventually strike off on the wrong leg.

This is her the day after I got her

And this is her last week in a lesson.

Im so happy with how she is coming along, she really seems to enjoy working and is a fast learner.

Whats your thoughts on her improvement over the past 10 weeks

All input welcome - good or bad :-)

Lots of improvement. Far more relaxed too now!

Yes she is a million time more relaxed, when you first get on her, she is tense and eyes on stalks but I allow her to walk about the school a few times and see for herself there is no monsters then if you allow her to do that then ask her to pay attention and start working she relaxes and settles pretty quickly.

She is lovely...envious :) where did you find her?!

well her story is she was a brood mare in Holland, brought over to UK in June by dealer A, done nothing at all, he had sold another horse to someone who returned it for what every reason, and he gave the girl zazou as a swap.

She had her for 2 weeks, and was having a lesson at another dealer B' when she seen a horse being ridden and said oh that's nice id like that horse type thing.

dealer B said that's fine you can have that horse if you give me zazou and some ££££

So she did and dealer B now owned zazou and just chucked her in a field and forgot about her kinda thing

Dealer B is one of one 2 people id buy horses from and I totally trust them, I was having problem with my other horse, got thrown off again , rang him up, said I cant cope with this horse can you help (he knew the horse through seeing him on my FB etc)

he said yes im sure I can come see me, so I went to see him and looked at some horses but he wanted too much money off me for a Part exchange as after spending thousands on that horse my husband would give me no more money.

So I said to him surely you have something cheap you will swap , and he suddenly remember zazou and got someone to drag in this scruffy mare covered in a rash out the field, he was honest , said look this has been sat in my field for a couple of months , ive done nothing with her, what you see is what you get type thing, don't know much about her - told me the story and said its up to you.

I liked her movement and really was running outta options, so I said yes she will do and very little money changed hands.

I returned the next day with ludo and took zazou home.

and that was that.

I think I took huge gamble but I could not face being hurt again, it was causing issues between me and my husband , but dealer B had said look bring her back if you have any issues etc

But its paying off she is lovely , and my old horse is will be sold to a pro type Sjer although dealer B currently has been riding him as his own horse out hunting etc on him and really likes him so that's nice.

Very nice! you must be so pleased!! :)

This is a long shot but the horse you returned, Ludo, is he dark bay with 4 white socks???

No he is not that's not him, I never returned him he had not been bought from this dealer, I had owner him since he was 4 years old. he is one amazing horse I just wish I could of had the talent to ride him and do him justice , who ever ends up with him and can do him justice will be one lucky person, 1 in a million nature on him , he like a over grown Labrador lol

he sounds like a Ludo i used to own, loved him to bits and he was an absolute sweetheart, and stunning too but I just couldn't cope with his explosions when i had to go back into full time work and didn't have my trainer to help anymore.

All the best, it looks and sounds like you'll both be happier, i know that as much as i miss my Ludo i feel that i did the right thing for us.

What a massive improvement! She looks like a very smart horse (in every sense of the word - very pretty and she must have a good head to be working things out so quickly). I think you'll have loads of fun with her!
