Is this just fat or something medical? I'm seriously intrigued...

Yes, that is a gelding.

Would defo have thought pregnant mare too...

Its weird because when im looking at it it looks like you can see the ribs unless of course its rolls of fat...

In desperate need of worming? Grass belly? My very 1st pony was shaped like that, nothing medicaly wrong we assumed she had maybe been a busy little brood mare at some point but as for a gelding it does look very odd!!

How do you know it is a gelding op?

It looks like a heavily pregnant mare to me- foal lying sideways before turning.

Also the pony is narrow int he chest, so makes it seem even more pronounced. Take it from the owner of a narrow chested arab x with typically well sprung ribs... Even when fit my mare looks rather round head on!

ets: cross posted re- how do you know it's a gelding...

Just looked at the comments where some one questioned if it definitely was a gelding as it looks like a pregnant mare. The charity owner replied saying yes definitely a gelding just has some 'roundness' stored to get him through the winter.

Just looks so odd as he he is narrow through the chest.
