would you put shoes back on your mare? Took the shoes off my mare for foaling, she is good with her foal (its the foal that kicks her), but as this is my first foal, i dont know when you can re-shoe them.
Unless she has very bad feet she shouldn't need shoes I'd have thought. If you're worried about the quality of the horn feed biotin and have them regularly trimmed.
It depends how your mare is doing without shoes to be honest. I would definitely not put metal ones on until your foalie is weaned, it's just not worth the risk in my opinion.
However, I know of quite a few mares who have to have the plastic shoes on because they are struggling without shoes on.
