How long after medicating a hock can you shoe a horse?

As the title really. Trying to get a farrier out to shoe my horse and hoping to get him out this week as my horse is having his hock medicated on Monday. I am expecting to be unable to have him shod that week following the joint injection as he will be unable (or it will be a bad idea) to get him to lift his hind leg for shoeing.

Anyone any ideas?

Seems it's the season for medicating joints! :D Had my 21 year old done two weeks ago for the first time and he was shod the next day with no problems and no apparent pain. Was given a weeks supply of danilon by the vet; he had had 2 the night before and 2 that morning before the farrier arrived and.......touch wood.........so far, it looks like I've got my old pony back!!! :D

Good luck!

PS....Horse had 48 hours box rest, turn out on day three and was supposed to be ridden day four but I didn't actually get around to it until day five.

Thank you for that Gunnerdog. Glad to hear your horse has made a good recovery. x
