My field wasnt topped as such but when the YO got rid of our stinging nettles our field was slightly topped (wasnt long in the first place) Just wondering how long i should be leaving it before letting the ponies back in there.
Ta in advance!

Ours were meant to be off the topped field for a week or so, but broke through the fence when we were at work. TBH they weren't interested in the cut grass anyway - more like the stuff round the edges that wasn't cut, and the fresh grass.

If its a hot it will dry up so quickly that it won't matter if they eat it or not . It when its in a wet lump and it starts to ferment you have to worry. Often they will leave it anyway if there is fresh grass.
Mowing sometimes stimulates grass growth so be careful if they tend to have lammi.

My horses' field was topped while the geldings were out in there! Silly non horse bafoons! luckily the field is mahoosive so there is lots of room for them to move away from the tractor, and they have all been ok :)
