How long before Regumate plus Sucralfate help my Mare?

I purchased my “final” horse in October 2025, an eight old Eventer who didn’t want to event anymore, sold as a hunter/dressage horse.
I did everything wrong, fell in love with her videos and photos and because of another offer, purchased her unseen and un vetted. I’m a grown up and was prepared to take the risk and accept all responsibility for what might come. She’d never been hacked on the road so we did that and whilst spooky about bins and tarpaulins she’s good about all vehicles particularly when accompanied by my husband and our wolfhound. She’s VERY noise reactive and had to be sedated for most of November due to fireworks, she has acoustic Ears to wear when ridden.
Up u til January she could be ridden in company on the road and in the indoor and outdoor schools to an extent.
Since March she’s been awful, girthy, back sensitive, kicking out at the mounting block, not wanting to be mounted.
She’s had everything g checked and has been on Regumate for a month which has helped a lot but not fixed the kicking out at the mounting block.
So I had her scoped for ulcers and x rayed for kissing spine on Friday. She had a few (maybe 3/4) ulcers and her back x rays are clear (phew).
So my question is, she is now on Regumate (for a month) plus Sucralfate(couple of days), how long before I should reasonably expect a result?
She’s had Saddler (now in WOW Pinacle Dressage), Chiropractor, Dentist (before she arrived), new bit which she likes.
Please help

I’ve found it’s a bit variable - vets usually say you should notice improvements within a couple of weeks, I did however have one who took 6-8 weeks to improve behaviourally. He really was a completely different horse after treatment though.
Are the ulcers glandular? Just wondering why the vets have suggested sucralfate first instead of omeprazole.

Yes definitely scan ovaries and check hormone levels, usually see a difference in a month if it’s going to be affective but it sounds like something else may be going out if only doing it at the block. I assume saddle has been checked? Is it worth getting a second opinion?

I bought my new mare a similar time and have had similar issues around being reactive. About 6 weeks ago we then added refusing to go forward and bucking.

I had a work up with scope which was all clear. Scanned ovaries and she had huge follicles which would have been making her V uncomfortable. Started on Regumate and within a week she was getting more comfortable under saddle.

It hasn't helped with how reactive/sharp she is, initially i thought she was worse however I have started schooling with my phone playing music which has helped.

If yours had ulcers, what type were they? I've never heard of treating with only the sucralfate, always alongside Omeprazole. I wouldn't expect her behaviour to improve until the ulcers have healed. I have always given 2-4 weeks off whilst the ulcer treatment has kicked in before introducing some v light work.
